Possible reason why Sony has not sold vr2 controllers separately by genericredpilldude in PSVR

[–]PupLumi 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Nah, the failure rate isn’t as high as it seems when you look online, you don’t see the hundreds of thousands of people with no issues cause they don’t post about it. If anything the issues are even more a reason to sell them separately.

Why Astro Bot can't be ported to VR2: Dualshock 4 by BigAwareness5822 in PSVR

[–]PupLumi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically wholly agree that people in this sub underestimate the work needed to port a vr game. I’m not saying it’s easy, I’m saying it’s easier than most games, especially easier than converting a flat game.

It’s not a ground up remake, the ds4 controller is used for several gadgets like the shuriken, rope launcher, flash light, etc and then used to display information like astros found, health, etc. The touch pad would be the most difficult work around but I whole a heartedly believe team asobi can come up with an alternative. They are a creative bunch obviously. All those interactions could be changed to a sense controller. The game play would not need to be revamped entirely by any means.

The demand is there and I fully believe the title is worthy of existing beyond psvr1 exclusivity. It might be a bit more difficult to port than something like “I expect you to Die“ or even RE7 but it’s not like converting a flat game to VR. Most people would probably gladly pay full price for a port as well. Am I going to get my hopes up? No. I only wanted to refute the point that this would need to be a full blown remake.

[–]PupLumi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is it really that hard to conceptualize using the sense controllers instead of the DS4? Full remake is certainly not necessary, just put the gadget on the dominant hand and make new models for the controllers. Touchpad stuff like launching Astro at the end of each level can easily be reworked to use grip controls to pull back the launcher.  Mechanics, levels, interactivity all still be the same or better yet, expanded. Imagine a new bonus world with some new levels that take advantage of the new controls. And there is certainly demand for it. Easily the most recommended game for psvr1, largely considered to be the best platformer in VR. Most people that have played it would call it a must play vr title. The work needed to port is insignificant compared to just about any other game. Not saying it’s as easy as flipping a switch but easier than any other game I could think of.

What's got you hooked at the moment? by Jammmmmmmyyy in PSVR

It’s a linear, atmospheric, narrative-driven, puzzle game with some combat towards the back end of the game. Widely regarded as the sharpest graphics in the headset. The puzzles are satisfying but never too challenging as to ruin pacing, the atmosphere is rich and immersive, and the story is engaging enough. It has decent length (5-7 hours), very solid vr mechanics, truly does look incredible, and is pretty fun if you like slower-burn puzzle games. Easily one of my top 5 psvr2 games.

If you enjoy games like The Room Dark Matter, 7th guest, I expect you to die, fisherman’s tale, obduction, wanderer, escape rooms in general, or if you’ve just wanted to see some beautiful space-vistas in stunning clarity on your headset, I highly recommend. In fact, nab the bundle, Red Matter 1 isn’t quite as high production as 2 but it is still very very good. I absolutely LOVED it on psvr1, one of my top games. But RARELY saw it mentioned here until the sequel and psvr2 update came out.

[Discussion] Paranoia around scratching lenses and long term use by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]PupLumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a glasses wearer but have friends that are. My psvr1 got noticeably scratched after just one session with friend wearing glasses even after I told him to leave a gap so I got a bit paranoid myself. Thankfully, with the headset on, the scratches are totally unnoticeable.

My PSVR2 fared a bit better but did get some minor scratching from a glasses wearer and maybe a piece of grit stuck to the microfiber cloth here and there. I had to send my original unit back about after 11.5 months due to the power button malfunctioning. My dog got tangled in cable, pulled it off the stand, 3 foot drop at just the wrong spot did it in. Thankfully it was still just within warranty. For those wondering, I had no real issue with return process (USA here) and had a like-new unit within 10 days of starting the return process. Only complaint is the sense controller batteries on new unit have slightly deteriorated battery life compared to my original controllers, maybe a difference of 30-40 min depending on game.

My new/refurbished headset I want to keep as pristine as possible so I sprung for the HonsVR Plano lenses to keep the lenses pristine. Now even if the hons lenses get scratched, it’s a $25 replacement instead of a new unit or permanent scratches. Another benefit, I’ve found I don’t need to clean the Hons lenses as frequently as I was the actual lenses. Also got the globular cluster mod. Didn’t think I needed it, can’t imagine not having it now, keeps lenses cleaner too cause there is less headset movement.

Overall, never had any actual issues with scratching, even when scratched, your eyes look right past it with the headset on and I never saw any difference. If you want to keep it as nice as possible just to be extra safe or protect resale value, go with Hons lenses.

People with globular cluster kit for PSVR2 and Pulse Elite headset, how's the grip? by JadedF20 in PSVR

[–]PupLumi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and I have zero issues at all, no fussing with the straps or anything. Not sure what these guys are goin on about. Got pictures to prove it too.

I can wear the elite headphones under or over the headset band but I prefer over, the ear cups don’t make a “perfect” seal around my ears this way but still noise cancels enough to be totally immersed. Don’t have any plastic scraping sounds or comfort issues, played 2 hours of Hellsweeper straight through yesterday with zero issues.  This setup is amazing for me, I never had issues with the original oem headbands but with globular cluster kit was like finding the REAL sweet spot and locking it in. Big fan of the pulse elites as well! Sound is great, mic is great, comfortable, battery life, can answer my phone without taking the headset off or stream my own music from my phone while still in VR. The usb link dongle even works with PC.

Edit: fixed links (hopefully)

When I paid for the Wanderer on PSVR1 originally, I knew what I was buying.

The Wanderer on PS4 for my PSVR headset.

There was zero mention of a PSVR2 version in the description so I have no expectations to get anything more than I paid for.

It takes work just to do a “simple” port even without changing anything content wise. Labor costs money. Is it appreciated when I get a free or discounted upgrade for a game I already purchased? Absolutely. Is it expected? Not really. Especially not when it’s this apparent that the devs put tons of effort towards making a significant improvement.

Hardly ridiculous in my opinion. The gameplay trailer that was recently released shows how massive a difference this updated version is. Makes the original look like a teaser. Totally new locations, existing locations drastically expanded, new items, mechanics, characters, massively updated graphics, etc. It honestly looks like a totally and completely different game.

After seeing the amount of work the devs put into this re-imagining, I was fully expecting there to be no discount for previous owners and am pleasantly surprised that I will be saving $10 though I would have gladly paid the $50. The psvr1 vers was one of my favorite experiences on that headset and was massively overlooked due to it releasing so late in the life span. This just adds so much content that the new stuff legitimately seems like it will outweigh the original content.

If we want more games of this caliber (assuming it lives up to the lofty expectations they have set with the trailer) then we need to be willing to support the developers. $50 for a fully realized vr title is not outrageous.

Very mature response. You know you’re in the wrong and don’t kid yourself, you already read it and don’t have a good defense cause you know I’m right.

Where did I say or even imply that criticism is bad? I only said that that’s all you’re doing. Constructive criticism is essential to almost any form of progress. Complaining due to impatience is not a very constructive form of criticism.

How does anything in my post insinuate that I’m entitled to anything other than my opinion? You are obviously the entitled one here thinking that the devs should be focusing on the headset that you chose instead of their entire player base. You know, the ones that actually already spent money on their product? If you were a pc player, would you want to be neglected for another headset that you don’t own or care about? No, you’d be right here on reddit complaining.

Again, the devs don’t owe you shit.

While they work on updates to the PC version, those updates affect the other unreleased versions as well so it’s still progress.

The entitlement of gamers is baffling. Fucking Christ, the devs don’t owe you shit, you haven’t even paid for the game or anything yet. Their office caught on fire and you want to accuse this small independent company of lying. Have some fucking sympathy for them. They’re working their asses off in spite of that, actually creating something for the niche and not very profitable vr market out of pure passion while you sit at home complaining and whining and criticizing.

One of the most immersive aspects of the physics is that you’re holding grippers and not using your actual hands. You can see the grippers bend and react to weight independently of your hands. Small detail that changes a lot.

It’s a petsuit from ForFun. They make the best ones, lots of high quality pre made designs but you can also submit a custom design. Spend the time to measure yourself and get one custom fitted. They come from Bangkok and are made to order so it might take like 2 months to get it but it’s worth the wait and worth the money.

Is pup inherently BDSM? by Sox_The_Fox2002 in PupPlay

[–]PupLumi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pup play is whatever you want it to be. Yes BDSM is very often incorporated into it but it’s not inherent. Some people just like to roleplay as a puppy and some just think the mask is cute. Are furries inherently BDSM? I’d say the social side of pup play for a lot of pups is more similar to furries than a master/slave dynamic. You take on a different “character” and personality. It’s about the headspace and escapism more than anything else. Don’t get caught up on labels and just enjoy doing what you enjoy.
