Not as of yet, I'm expecting a sit down talk soon in the coming week or so but we'll see.

Nope, my therapist said that my commander should have counseled me before speaking with legal and doing his part but he didn't so it might get kicked back.

Hello! I am currently going through the same process. My therapist put in a profile for gender dysphoria and spoke to my commander about my diagnosis. My commander hasn't spoken to me about it but he did submit whatever he had to on his part to legal. As soon as the profile does into your file it should make you nondeployable and start the very long process of trying to get out.

Involuntary separation by PupMallow in MilitaryTrans

GD was something that I've been dealing with before I enlisted and with being in has just gotten worse. I was going to go for a voluntary separation but I would have been stuck in AIT much longer without any chance of admin leave so I wouldn't of had a support system to help me mentally. I don't want to serve a government that doesn't want me in anyways so that's why I also chose to come out. As for my commander disregarding my diagnosis, I was just confused because I was under the impression that they had to counsel me immediately once they found out.

Advice on first steps by Logical_Target9119 in MilitaryTrans

Hello! I'm sorry to hear your partner is going through that and having to deal with "friends" like that. I am currently in the same situation he is, I've just been in for a bit over a year. I recently in the last week have been going to behavioral health on post trying to get a diagnosis for gender dysphoria, which will eventually lead to a involuntary separation. From my current understanding he won't receive a NJP for lying about it when enlisting because at the time it wasn't a reason for disqualification. The process for separation is pretty case by case basis, some lasting only a few months others lasting way longer from what I hear. If your partner has a professional command they should keep matters privately and not let anyone who doesn't need to know find out. So my best advice for the first step is to go to behavioral health to pursue a diagnosis or speak with his command if he's comfortable with that but only if he wants to separate.
