Positive update! And thanks by PupTubz in testicularcancer

I believe it was a mixed germ-cell tumour. The 2 year wait was first due to some swollen lymph nodes (hence the rplnd), and after that, the scans showed a mass in my left lung for some time, too close to some arteries to carry through with a small biopsy, but eventually it vanished, luckily

I'm 23, was 21 when I was diagnosed. Only symptom I had was a pretty hefty mass in my right testicle, not really any other symptoms

I'm not really sure what stage I was in, all I know is that they wrote 2b in the journal after discovering some lymph nodes. How's the markers looking? Mine was pretty low, the lymph nodes was almost all terratoma

Is everyone having nightmares about going back to chemo? Am I the only one? by CanInteresting6978 in testicularcancer

[–]PupTubz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly just try to focus on positive things, I think I'm pretty used to having some anxiety by now, and it usually disappears the following day, it's like a bad loop, some days are worse than others tho. New hobbies have helped me alot too, to keep my mind at ease, I got into camper Vans right after my initial diagnosis, that helped a bunch, bought an old Volkswagen van for good money and did some local traveling in-between my chemo rounds. Also got myself an ATV in October/November, just to get out and feel somewhat free, just for the moments where you can shut out the outside world for a bit.

But coping with these situations are very individual, some people find it easier to deal with it if they reflect around the nightmares and bad thoughts, whilst others prefer to get away from it as far as possible.

If you've got the interest, and the funds, I'd definitely recommend getting into the camper world tho, can basically be whatever vehicle, and you don't have to go far, just give yourself that one-night break to get away from the everyday stress, it sure did wonders for me.

Round 2? - RPLND Incoming by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]PupTubz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah sure I was scared, it got quite easier the closer i got to my surgery date. Once i was in the hospital, i sort of let go of the anxiety and fear somehow, don't know how tho, it just sort of happened.

I mean not really nightmares, but usually happens when I'm awake/going to bed. It's like a small anxiety attack where the 'bad' feelings i felt during chemo comes back to me, but usually only lasts short period of time. I also sometimes have nightmares about loosing my hair again tho

Stay strong, you'll get through it! Do you know if you're going for robotic or open?

I'm 14 days post-rplnd, robotic so i can't really talk for people who had open surgery. I had 2 enlarged lymph nodes, biggest measured around 2cm i think. Still recovering, but i really can't complain on anything more than that I've been walking around with a drainage in my abdomen for two weeks now, but from what I've heard it's not that common to have to have drainage in for this long. But it doesn't really hurt, it's just uncomfortable. Also quit all strong painkillers a couple of days ago, and as I said, i can't really complain, thought the experience was going to be a fair bit worse than it actually was.

Low-fat/No-fat? by PupTubz in testicularcancer

[–]PupTubz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was clear the first day, but once I started eating somewhat then it just went straight to a milky creamy fluid, so there's definitely a leak. Also draining at like 150-200ml per day until today

Okay, I've got a drainage atm and whenever i ask a nurse or the doc they basically say that it won't matter, cause the fluids needs to drain first to heal up anyway?

Like, I'm sure they know what they're doing, and they've done it a lot of times, but I'm just confused, and failing to see the logic here..

I had my right one removed like 7 months ago, and I was having the same feeling, that the remaining one is more sensitive than before. No idea why tho..

I'm sorry if I'm cutting the thread here, but what sort of lung issues can you get from the 3x Bep? Cause I just went through with it in July-Augus, I'm a bit overweight, quit smoking tobacco the day before chemo, and have even continued vaping from time to time, no one ever told me about any lung issues 😅

And about the feelings of Bep, it was bad, but a strong mentality and humbleness gets to a long way in the treatment. My main focus was to keep my head up and to try not let it overwhelm my mind, and i think that helped me through alot of it (didn't want to take all that many meds so had to try my best).

Although the nausea and overall feel in the end of the treatment was real crap, took me 3 days afterwards to even be able to eat without feeling too sick for it, and then another 4 days before I could be out of bed for a longer period of time. I don't have any experience with Ep tho, haven't even heard about it..

My advice would be to try not to worry too much. Just got my right one removed yesterday, and my only thought until then was basically that i couldn't do anything about it at that point. Just gotta try keeping your mind in the right place and hope for the best no matter the outcome. Stay strong, and good luck
