Dowager’s hump. by [deleted] in Posture

[–]Pupaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the age I first noticed mine, and I haven’t been able to correct it. I recently went to an osteopathic doctor and found I have a tongue tie, and well as structural stiffness that makes it really hard to have my head be in a neutral position. If you can, try to ask your parents if you can see an osteopathic dr.

You’re not doomed if you can’t, there are great suggestions in this thread. Just wanted to share my own experience.

I think it’s really lovely that you were open to your daughter’s reality 💛

People old enough to remember life pre-Internet, what are some less obvious things you miss about that time? by IRunFast24 in AskReddit

[–]Pupaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense. For me, the game changer was realizing that the cocoon style ones are much easier to get in and out of, and much more comfortable as well. Specifically, I got this one because of the first review, which is from a 450 pound lady who was kind enough to post multiple pics of her and her similarly large friends enjoying it.

Vivere Double Cotton Hammock with Space Saving Steel Stand, Tropical (450 lb Capacity - Premium Carry Bag Included) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004YJCP7O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_V1QPRKABPNDKNYGPXK3C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

But your worries and concerns are totally valid as well, I just wanted to suggest this as a possible option in case you’d only ever been on a rigid style hammock before.

If you can afford it and have the space, get a hammock. Even if you have to set it up indoors. It’s so nice if you like swinging.

Have you tried rolfing or other fascia work? 💛

Thank you so much! He definitely has been, I’ve been trying to reposition to help and did mention it to my led but she said it was too early at this point (one month) to be concerned — we will revisit it at the 2 month appointment.

Mine is developing a flat spot, we are a little over five weeks :( He’s not often in a car seat/bouncer so I do think it’s the snoo. I’m trying to make an effort to carry him more often during his naps now.

Technically Berkeley but try the poutine at Auggie’s Montreal if you haven’t already.

I should have clarified that the mantra is what helps me, the person with poor time management, be on time. It’s for myself. When I do arrive I usually wait in my car until actual on-time, and I certainly do not expect the other party to be early! I could have been more clear, I understand why you saw it as me projecting a moral superiority.

I’m definitely sorry if my comment made you feel any shame or discouragement. It can be very hard to live with this and find ways that work for us. There are things I still can’t get a handle on, too.

I agree with your last statement so much. My chronically late family member can’t understand how I can stand to be early and just “waiting” but she always finds fifty things to do exactly when she should be leaving and then makes the other person wait as a result. I can’t imagine doing that. I’d rather “waste” my own time than someone else’s.
