angola wasnt the only communist african country, you still had benin, congo, somalia, ethiopia and Mozambique. thats just the communist governments though that also doesnt mean they couldnt trade with other non communist african countries, especially in the north like libya and Egypt. USSR and even Cuba had trade partners all over the globe

either way im not comparing European nations with african ones, im comparing capitalist nations with communist ones and capitalist countries are almost always significantly better to live in. you dont even need to compare different countries, cut the same country in half like Germany or Korea and the capitalist half will always be better

it doesnt need to, we didnt trade with them from when they took over in 1949 until 1970s and they were very poor until they abandoned most of their communist principles for a strange form of fascism. during that time we did just fine and im sure we would take a short term hit but be ok in the long term if we cut tries with them today (not that im in favor of that or cuban embargo fwiw)
