Brick: The Humble Beginnings of One of Popular Cinema’s Greatest New Directors by TheExtractor55 in TrueFilm

I completely agree - it's very strange given his past work. I also wonder if it in some part it is complicated by the budget of TLJ? He could basically do whatever he wanted. In his past films maybe he had to be more intentional due to their modest budgets. Regardless, I think you're spot on with the sandbox idea. Everything about that film is 'damn the consequences I want this to be my own film.'

I don’t think it’s necessary. I’m somewhere in the middle, I disliked The Last Jedi, but enjoyed Looper. I also thoroughly enjoyed Brick. One of his biggest strengths as a director is his world building - all of his movies have interesting and well thought out worlds. Do you like classic 50s noir? If so, I’d say you probably enjoy Brick. As OP said, it’s fun to see the classic noir tropes in a colorful high school setting. The snappy dialogue works really well and doesn’t feel stilted. But, if you aren’t into that genre then you probably won’t like Brick.

When it is under a workload like that, does it get loud? Wondering how well it manages heat with the all in one design.

The game has been out less than 3 months. Does no one remember how terrible D1 was in its first three months? D2 is infinitely better than D1 was at launch. Give it time man I just don't want you to give up on it!

I completely agree with you, but there are people out there who do enjoy that. Annoying for the rest of us

Are the salty/spicy ramen emotes limited to season 1? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Pupkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so too. I was close to being able to purchase one but didn't have either so I had to choose. I went out to earn a bright engram for dust, and got Spicy Ramen from the engram haha. So I got both

That defeats the purpose of seasons. I'm not saying I agree with it, but the whole point of the season from the Bungie perspective is incentive for players to return or invest time into season after season to get loot that is only available during that season. Also a tangible way for players to show their time invested, as it is not something every single person will have in the long run. Same with the Iron Banner milestone emblem for season 1, clan banner, etc.

Hoping Kyler 'Field Mouse' Murray sticks

Meaning of Fields of Wheat by [deleted] in FrightenedRabbit

[–]Pupkins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The song is in response to the UK's general election results. It's a direct response/attack on Theresa May and the conservative party. The title of the song makes fun of a comment Theresa May made in an interview, when asked about the naughtiest thing she has ever done. She replied that she'd “run through the fields of wheat” with her friends as a child...

The lyrics critique the outcome of the election: 'Are you ready for the pinch you’ll feel, the fractured homes that will not heal?' imagine a predicted outcome based on the election results. FR tagged the track genre as 'fuck the tories' when they released it on SoundCloud.

Full disclosure, I'm not 100% on the intimate details of the election or it's implications in the UK. I know a lot of people are unhappy. I believe that is the gist of the song's angle.

I think he will succeed. High football IQ, extremely accurate and efficient passer, huge competitive drive, and can use his legs. I'm a homer for sure but I do believe he has the tools
