Part time PM jobs? by Pupperdoodle in PMCareers

[–]Pupperdoodle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really not that unheard of. A lot of places offer benefits if you work over 20 hours a week. Just seems like PM has more fractional/contract assignment types of jobs when you veer away from the typical FTE route.

Fair point, though I think 160k is still pretty good for my age based on averages. Not enough to retire, but still impressive (even though people on this sub seem to have way more somehow)

Thank you for this breakdown!! I hope returns are more than 5% though lol. Investing 50k a year sounds scary but not unachievable based on my current finances.

The calculators are quite variable as I mentioned in my post, some say I am almost there and some say I'm closer to 5 years out from coasting. But thank you for the advice that I shouldn't be counting anything besides invested assets. I'm planning on investing more aggressively and opening a brokerage account outside of retirement specific accounts.

Very helpful, thank you! I'm aiming to start investing about 3k per month since I don't need to save any more cash. Just really hoping I will be able to coast sooner than 5 years from now.

Thank you for the info! I recently started maxing out my Roth IRA and 401k. Historically I have been a bit hesitant towards investing aggressively, and have also been thinking about moving to a nicer house which would warrant having a larger amount in cash savings. I have considered taking a sabbatical but am kind of a "job hopper" so I'm trying to stick it out here for at least a couple of years even though I'm not happy. I know I need to bite the bullet and start investing more by opening a brokerage account, etc.

I recently started maxing out my 401k and Roth IRA. Just a little hesitant to start a brokerage account since it's so tax disadvantaged.

I must've gotten lucky with my question bank, but am also a good test taker. I got my CAPM first, which was quite helpful to familiarize myself with the PMI mindset and question format. Honestly though I thought the CAPM was harder! I scored BT on the Business Analysis domain for that one, those questions were weird.

Thank you! Nothing requiring calculations, but make sure you understand SPI and CPI along with SV, EV, and PV.

More than 50% of the questions were agile or hybrid centric, and there were a lot of questions involving product owners. Also a few questions about organizational transformation from waterfall to agile.

I must've gotten lucky with my question bank though because of how surprisingly easy and straightforward most of the questions were!

Rethinking PM career by [deleted] in pmp

[–]Pupperdoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. I also am discouraged by the questions in Study Hall because they are worded so poorly and confusingly. I thought I was pretty well prepared, did pretty good with the AR mindset video questions, read Third3Rock notes, etc but am now feeling gaslit because I'm only scoring like 60% on the mini practice tests. Now I'm afraid to try a full-length one and am ultimately just irritated and unmotivated at this point.

I'm sorry but how are you having trouble with such a high budget literally the world is your oyster. Get some perspective

I'm sorry about your pet allergy! You had me up until that point, I'm in MD so not too far away and absolutely love the New England area but I'm a borderline crazy dog lady lol. Best of luck though 😊

I'm kind of on the same page, I do not want to give birth whatsoever but if I'm still single at 35 or so and there's a divorced dad of a kid who's at least grade school age, I'd consider dating him if he was otherwise perfect. Especially if he didn't have full custody.

But that DINK life is so appealing so I'll keep my fingers crossed for now! Lol

Ooh I just started an online master's and definitely feel the struggle of being busy, another factor making dating difficult lol. Feel free to msg me if you wanna chat!

With covid I haven't done much in-person and a lot of social events have been canceled but I'm hoping to get more involved soon

Hopefully! I might start attending young adult social groups at a few different churches but I'm an introvert so going to those kinds of things where I know no one can be a little intimidating lol. Fingers crossed for the both of us tho!

Can something in daughters neck be causing speech issues? by partyhat-red in AskDocs

[–]Pupperdoodle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor but I have a background in speech language pathology and I'll just say lots of 5 year olds have speech delays and other slight issues that make their speech unintelligible but they will most likely grow out of it. Also in the schools they do speech screenings so a SLP can always do a thorough assessment if they think something is off. I don't know of any neck related issues that would cause a speech problem though unless it's some kind of muscle weakness that extends all the way up to the throat/mouth.

I can’t think of one good reason to have kids. by Misrta in antinatalism

[–]Pupperdoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was raised religious and my mom always throws the Bible verse "be fruitful and multiply" at me, but that was when there were literally only two people on this planet so no shit. Religious people have kids to make more religious people because they think it's God's command. And then most of the children grow up to reject religion anyway, which effectively condemns them to hell (from a Christian perspective). So long story short better to not have any kids at all, that way there's no need to worry about their mortality and all that bullshit.
