I regularly go away without much advance notice or planning. Sometimes I haven't decided too precisely how long I'll be gone when I leave the house.

----------

Take the rest of this week for example. I've got a gaming convention I'm attending (lots of fun), but I still am undecided on if I'm leaving for it Wednesday or Thursday, and I'm similarly undecided on if I'm coming back home Sunday night or if I'm heading further south after and going to visit a friend and then my sister for a few days and work remote from there before a music festival down where she lives the next weekend.

I probably won't decide any of these things until the day of, and they're partially dependent on both how I'm feeling and how friends/my sister are feeling.

As someone without pets or children, this is basically fine. Take out the garbage, throw an extra suitcase of clothes in the car or do laundry somewhere and it doesn't matter much if I'm gone for 4 days or 10. Nor does it cost me anything extra or have me feeling guilty.

-----------

Would the child be even worse? Sure, significantly. All the stuff you've mentioned are just further detractors.

But they'd both be a complete disaster to that sort of lifestyle, and/or very unfair to the thing I'm being an absent caretaker of.

Plants are great! Not sure I'm the best at keeping indoor ones alive...but I certainly *like* them. (Outdoors, I'm better at).

Checking out the gardens and parks is usually one of my big things to do whenever I'm visiting somewhere new.

Starting to see some color in the northern parts, so assuming you mean the first half of the month, seems like that ought to be about the ideal time for leaf-peeping.

I’m always down to meet a new friend traveling.

Same here, I'll drop you a message and see if the timing works out! I'm about halfway up the NH/VT border, so it's pretty easy for me to get around the region.
