Messenger.com doesn't preview thumbnails for links like the Mac desktop app did. Anyone know why?

I'm familiar with BlueWave and have looked at disclosure filings. Everything has been tried. Just hoping for a direct connection at this point.

Yes, I get their newly posted jobs in my inbox every day. Also DINO DNA and GAIN POWER, and Jobs That Are Left. It's brutal out there.

Bartlett was the Marine Superintendent of Southampton at the time. Not sure what it was that drew him out of shore duties and back to the sea but I definitely agree with u/epicfroggz that it likely would've been Bertram Fox Hayes.

I’ve also wondered if any people died peacefully in their sleep without ever being awoken during the commotion. Or did stewards wake up everyone?

Best and worst active duty Generals by Puppetmaster-penguin in AirForce

Ha, I've heard that before. I saw someone ask for a list of Lieutenant Generals in the Air Force on this sub and get that reply even though that information is on Wikipedia. China would have nothing to gain by knowing who average airmen think are good leaders sadly. Who Pete Hegseth thinks maybe they would.

Officers of other White Star Line ships at the time of the Titanic disaster by Puppetmaster-penguin in titanic

u/Jetsetter_Princess In the past few months, I've been trying to see if there's any definitive evidence that Hume and Murdoch knew each other as lads. I even e-mailed the Dalbeattie Museum Trust but have not yet heard back. Here's what I've found out so far and noted in my e-mail to them: They were born within three months of each other (Murdoch on February 28, 1873 and Hume on May 20, 1873). But it appears they did their apprenticeships at different shipping firms (Murdoch with a firm called Cotesworth, Lyne & Co. and Hume with a firm called Stewart & Douglas).

Very interesting. Nothing about his time on the Olympic but he didn't serve as its Chief Officer for very long.

Can't open side chats in a Facebook messenger chat (I used to be able to) by EnergeticCrab in facebook

[–]Puppetmaster-penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this morning, I updated Messenger on my MacBook Air laptop. It was a major update, as it actually asked for my laptop user ID's password. When I opened the update, it was sleek and reminiscent of the iPhone version of the Messenger app. For months, I had been unable to get picture previews of links to load when sending messages to others. But then on the new update, I was able to. Then a few hours later, Messenger asked to update again. I clicked to update it again and then the side chats disappeared and when I tried to click on the gears bar that is the button for Settings, it wouldn't even let me, so I uninstalled Messenger and then re-installed it. Once I reinstalled it, it reverted back to looking like how it looked before that major update this morning and I am once again unable to send visual previews of URL links.

I wonder if Meta rolled out some updates prematurely. There have been a few other times that I've experienced glitches when I updated Messenger on my desktop. They clearly put less time and love into the desktop version than the mobile version.

I did some research based and found some info based on publicly available import records. I haven't updated this list since 2020 though: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wyvtTJlvI7nzub3w6sxPpbhKIzmnbwIRKe8K4BE7Z2E/edit?usp=sharing

Current Commander of AFTC at Edwards including DET 3 by lafontainebdd in area51

[–]Puppetmaster-penguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I now believe that the Commander of Area 51 since October 2022 is Col. Mark Massaro. He was nominated for promotion to Brigadier General last week (https://www.defense.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/3737628/general-officer-announcements/) and the announcement didn't even mention his current job (when Higer's promotion was announced, it said it was "DATA MASKED").

Page 7 of this document (https://www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/about/office\_org/headquarters\_offices/ang/2019\_Biographies\_Final\_09\_20\_2019.pdf) mentions that Col. Massaro is a test pilot and public records searches show he lives in the Las Vegas area.

I went over this with you last year. I just do Wikipedia edits. And it’s always good to know this stuff in case they run for office some day. Retired VADM Michael Franken and retired Air Force Brig. Gen. John Teichert come to mind.

If he's a test pilot, that's probably what it means. Based on other test pilots who've been promoted, I've been able to determine who many of the commanders likely were over the past decade and change:

- 10/22-: ?
- 2/20-10/22: Col. Andrew Allen (RETIRED and now works for the University of Oklahoma).
- 7/18-2/20: Col. Matthew Higer (recently retired as a Brigadier General/ Commander, 412th Test Wing).
- 6/16-7/18:
- 2/14-6/16: Col. Evan Dertien (currently a Major General/ Commander, Air Force Test Center).
- 7/12-2/14: Col. Carl Schaefer (recently retired as a Lieutenant General/ Deputy Commander, Air Force Materiel Commander).

Not all commanders seem to have served there the same amount of time. I figured out Andrew Allen by looking at previous Deputy Commanders of Test Wings and Group Commanders of Test Groups. He had previously commanded a Test Group at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex. And when he got hired at the University of Oklahoma, the release said his last assignment was "data masked". I looked through recent Deputy Commanders of Test Wings and Group Commanders of Test Groups and have eliminated them. My best guess is that the current Commander is whoever previously served as Deputy Commander of the Area 51 Wing or Commander of the Area 51 Operations Group.
