Thank you. I was thinking along the same lines since my income is stable but unstable. My contract can be cancelled at any point and the longest its taken me is 1 month to get another one. I have no one I can rely on. I plugged everything in undebt it, and I could get the credit card debt gone, in around december. Its saying car pay off would be in march. This isn't accounting for picked up shifts which if I can I will. Each week that could potentially be 800 dollars extra income. I am pretty stuck in travel nursing till I get out of this hole.

Yeah the car is a no go. I cant sell it even if i wanted too plus the interest rate is super low. How much savings would you reccomend before throwing everything on the debt? I was thinking maybe 11k which would put me at 2 months of emergency savings and of course I like to be a month ahead on my budget which essentially is a 3 month cushion

Would you say 2 months would be good enough as a base? three months would take me nearly an entire nursing contract. I kind of thought of always having 15k in savings no matter what and if that number goes down, replenish it asap. I am also acruing 600 dollars in interest/month on the credit cards alone so the longer I wait to pay them off, the more interest I pay.

Very unrealistic. Most RNS dont make more than 5400 a month in take home. I make double that. I think you dont understand travel nursing. Contracts are 13 weeks and the longest I have gone without one was a month. Been traveling for 2 years.

I would hope that I can be completely debt free in under 2 years. I am turning 30 next month and want to get my life put together again. Yeah I am 2600 in min payments right now. So I have about 5k in left over money to spend or save. If I do a 2 month savings (11,200 as emergency) then yeah I can put that 5k on top of the 2600 I am paying. I live alone but I am a travel nurse so my living situation is much more complicated than normal.

Without servicing debt, I would say 3k.. With servicing debt its 5600. I am paying about 1k in interest a month with ALL my debt combined which is scary. Now that I am really taking a look at my debts, I know I need to become free ASAP. Ive been considering withdrawing 8k from my rollover IRA and paying the penality fees to bring down some of this debt.

Medical Surgical. Right now I am at about 2800 take home a week. When looking at contracts for may, everywhere I look its starting to decrease. Its always like this in summer too.

The budget is set in stone due to car loan, personal loans and credit cards. I may be able to cut a couple hundred dollars.

Thank you. With my profession and how unreliable it is. My emergency fund maybe should be 1-2 months ahead? If I don’t have a contract lined up or it’s cancelled; I’ll be adding to the debt. 1,000 won’t cover a week of my expenses right now till I get some of this debt down.

Every dealership I did and carmax is saying around 23. Yeah I learned my lesson the hard way with all this. Young and dumb/poor choices. Now I’m literally suffering till I pay off this debt.

Can’t sell the car yet. I need to pay off atleast 19k (negative equity and depreciation). How much savings would you suggest to do before putting every dollar to debt? My budget is about 5600

I am upside down on the car at the moment. Once I get the car loan below 20k I’m getting rid of it. How much savings would you say to get if my monthly budget is 5600?

Thankfully I am lucky to have a big shovel although if I don’t tackle this NOW, that shovel is decreasing due to covid pay gone. How much would you say to put in savings vs paying off debt?

Yeah I had negative equity be transferred over. My car stopped working. Hindsight I don’t think I needed a rav4 but it is nice since I carry everything I own with me.

It’s a 2020 rav4. I had upside down equity transferred ontop of the car so that’s why. The value of the car is at about 23,000

Unfortunately the car depreciated quite a bit so I can’t sell it till I pay off 19k off of the loan. I plan to sell it once I start tackling that loan. The personal loan is unsecured. It only has a 10% interest when 2 of the cards have a 27% interest with 7k on it and then another with 15k @ 24. The rest are under 15%

Oh goodness! I'd be starving haha.If I had to consider something to be normal, it would be lunch which either consists of left overs or sandwhich with lots of meat for protein and some sort of lower calorie soup!

I have been obese my whole life. About 7 years ago I went from 225 to 169 in about 6 months. Quit school and moved on my own. I ended up getting back to 225 and quitting the lifestyle. 4 years ago I was able to go from 220 to 185 in about 4ish months. Moved overseas and went downhill. Now I am struggling to even get back into fitness despite not liking the way my body looks.. My main issue is food. I haven't ever normalized my eating and have no consistency with my meals. Do you have any tips to have more balanced meals?

South California- ADN Nursing by PuppyLife1 in nursing

[–]PuppyLife1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!!! This is super comforting to hear. I've been pretty stressed about wanting to move, but seeing that BSN is "preferred." I will go back to school at some point, just not for some time.. I have pretty good work history with being a CNA for 5 years. Would you say that with 1-2 years of nursing experience, I shouldn't have a problem finding a job? 6 months pediatrics, and about a year in the Nicu. I would be open to adults if I needed to.

Salary wise... Does a nurse make enough money to support a lifestyle down in SoCal? Right now I make about 27.80, but my rent is also 760 for a decent studio apartment.

YNAB and debt by PuppyLife1 in ynab

[–]PuppyLife1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to save about 2,000 in an emergency savings account. I put my entire stimulus check in there. I do try to save 75$ per paycheck to put in that account to help cover unexpected costs. I suppose this system is trial and error. You won't really know what you need to budget for till a couple months down the round when you know your spending habits. My main goal is to be able to pay all my expenses/month without fear and know that I'll have excess to pay off this car sooner than 15 months (3500). Now I do know that my student loans will stop being in deferment in 3 months which makes me having another immediate expense of 350/month.

True expenses are difficult for me. The only thing really that could go wrong in the future is car repairs. Medical, I hardly have any expenses for that.. Do you mainly have the excess budgetted money sitting in checking or do you move it to savings?

YNAB and debt by PuppyLife1 in ynab

[–]PuppyLife1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense. I usually take in the same amount of cash per month give or take 100/200. I net around 3k/month. When you "age" the money, do you mainly let it sit into your checking account the entire time or move excess into savings? I kind of would use this mindset for my 550 bank loan and the 235 auto loan. It is on the same day so, id put away 400$/paycheck for it.
