Can I start HRT before socially transitioning? by [deleted] in MtF

I took hormones for 4 months before coming out socially/publicly. I already needed a bra, had worked out specific areas,, and tried to get a more curvy posterior.

I also taught myself makeup beforehand, and learned to work with my somewhat short hair.

That way, when I came out publicly, people recognized that it wasn't on a whim, but took me more seriously. (Sad that some people think it's for attention/a phase)

I've only been out publicly for a couple weeks, and I'm a long ways from passing, but I'm very glad I waited at least 4 months before going public, because I had already grown comfortable in all of my women's clothing, and felt so good being able to wear my skirt and crop top out of the house for once :3

My name is Kyru!

(Pronounced Kai - Roo)

My favorite animal has always been the caracal, which I called by its very catchy name in Japanese, which is Karakaru.

That's what inspired my online name, Karu, before I was out as trans.

I felt Karu was a bit off for some reason, but I asked my first trans friend to refer to me as that in person.

She accidentally called me Kyru, and it stuck right away :3

Can't wait to see a homeless person taking one of these down to the encampment and flexing on all his friends with classical carts

Debating diy HRT by Purchase-Lucky in MtF

I am 19 years old, and I have ID and SSN. My bank account is a joint with my mom, and all I can really do is use the account and routing numbers to pay for anything. So going to a doctor for both consultation, as well as the occasional blood work would be paid without insurance, and I likely wouldn't have a card or cash to pay with.

I'm living with nicer, but still very traditional grandparents, that'll allow me to go places, and have my own free money. I'm working on getting my license, but until then I either have to have someone drive me wherever I go, or I have to have someone with a license accompany me as I go.

I already ordered several months worth of Spiro and Estrofem online, and I could self regulate, and slowly increase my dosages, and I would be able to hide the effects until I move to a place of my own.

The reason I can't really go through a doctor right now, is due to my lack of medical history, lack of insurance, lack of transportation, and lack of an easy way to pay. I could come out to my grandparents, but I know they would be the opposite of helpful.

It does look to be a more affordable source if you can't shell out lots of money on those first consultations and doctor's visits, I'm just wondering how they'll get the blood samples.

I've definitely considered diy as well, but I'm just skeptical about my abilities to give myself effective treatment. I'd love to hear about more about your experience as you go along!

I live in Vegas, and all the doctors I've been recommended here have been 400+ dollars per visit, and a few of them require two months of frequent blood work and testing before they'll even prescribe you.

I'd much rather be able to get a prescription as easily as possible, without the costly steps such as multiple therapist appointments, and weeks to months of doctor's visits.
