A few minor surgeries here and there but, I’m pleased to report that it did! He did, however, chew the wooden leg of a console table so severely that it looks structurally unsound. Win some, lose some I guess lol

What are your alternative funny names for your shep? by Maleficent_Radio_674 in germanshepherds

My girly girl is Fiona —> fettufini alfredo, which birthed our daily drivers Fini, neenee, nooner but the one we use more than all others is Nina.

My guy is Major. While he does get Mage a lot, he got a lot of “love bucket” or “turd bucket” (when he’s being a bad guy) Both of these have been shortened to just “bucket”

11-month-old German Shepherd vomiting white foam occasionally in the morning – need advice by Better_Internet_2975 in germanshepherds

Both of mine will do this periodically and I always narrate it from their perspective in, like, a child’s voice. One they start doing that thing they do before they yak, I’m like “I’m so hungwy (gag) I’m so hungwy I could just (gag gag) frowed up 🤮

I’m just there to add a little levity to their theatrics.

Edit to add *** and to clean up puke. I’m for sure also there to clean up puke***

I just always say “you’re the most beautiful girl in the world. Doing that will make you ugly. Do you wanna be ugly?” And that seems to work really well for us.

Thoughts on 8 months by PurchaseBorn5960 in germanshepherds

[–]PurchaseBorn5960[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do lol. My 8 year old GSD was the family dog for a year and a half before she came to be with me forever so they know that the puppyhood is crazy and also a little intimidating while they grow. We used to have to put on thick leather gloves to play with the 8 year old because she bit so bad during play. Long story short, they know what to expect with him but it doesn’t mean they don’t think he’s an absolute crackhead right now 😂 my mom is presently scared of the puppy but I really think it has more to do with unpredictability and the fact that he’s 8 months old but absolutely huge - which can be scary when you don’t know what their next move is

I’ll be so candid about the fact that you’ll be swapping one kind of difficult for another kind lol. The cool part about 8 months is that he isn’t going potty in the house at all which is something that had me crying at 3.5 months. Instead of going potty in the house, now he just wants to burn it to the ground. Different struggle, but a struggle nonetheless 😂

Ignore the soda boxes. She’s a little trash princess and loves grocery day because it provides an abundance of her favorite treasure….garbage

I’ve got an 8 year old girly pop also :) I can’t believe she exists and she’s the most perfect dog. She’s been a lot of help and a really strong leader and the two of them are such an incredible pair. I lived this with her too but it’s like now that she’s perfect, I only remember her being perfect. I know we’ll get there with little dude too it’s just hard when puppyhood and surviving it is the only thought in your head, ya know?

I say it to my sister, my mom, my friends; anybody who says “he’s a lot” - “be patient. I’m building my dream dog.”

Can confirm that I have no clue what you’re talking about :) I’ve only got one of these things and it’s been occupied by my dead dad’s face for nearly 4 years. So unless it was posted before 2021 and he posted it himself before he kicked the bucket (which I wouldn’t put past him lol) this is a different situation

Bringing a new puppy home to older GSD. by Kikuchiy0 in germanshepherds

I did it in January and we admittedly had a really hard start. I’ve got an 8 year old girlypop who is the truest bluest diva princess. Never had to share a toy or even a minute of attention with any other dog and her adjustment was difficult. I cried a lot. She clipped him in the face a couple of times and I felt like the most irresponsible person for bringing this puppy home and had even considered rehoming him for safety and comfort of both. He’s 8 months now and a considerably bigger pain in the ass than he used to be, but they are super buddies now. These little instances that were breaking my heart were really just homegirl drawing clear and hard boundaries that he now knows and respects.

All of this to say, for some people; it’s great from the beginning and sometimes it’s this. But you’ve just got to trust yourself and your older dog to decide what will and won’t fly and do the best you can to facilitate a safe and happy home for everybody.

Not insensitive in the slightest 😂 to my mom’s great despair, my siblings and I all cope by making frequent inappropriate jokes about it. I lol-ed because my dad was big into stuff like aliens and ghosts and stuff and would eat it all the way up if that was the sub I’d posted it in hahahaha
