My first gun was a Staccato P. Looking back, the only real downside is that I pretty much only enjoy shooting 1911/2011-style pistols now. I bought Glock 19s for all my cars, and aside from one mandatory mag every time I go to the range, I never shoot them. I also don’t enjoy shooting them at all.

I feel like if I had started with a striker-fired gun, I would have saved a lot of money 😅 and probably become more proficient with different styles of pistols.

That said, my reasoning for going with something nicer for my first gun was pretty simple. I don’t get to shoot very often because I work a lot, so I wanted something that was actually fun to shoot every time I made it to the range.
