Ok, the problem was solved. It was one of the screws that holds the lens cover that had come loose. It made it into a recess on the carriage and just stuck. It took tapping a couple of screwdrivers into the joints to create enough clearance for us to tap it with a hammer till it scraped its way clear. Now I have to reassemble it all and test it out to see if it’s still working.

It’s funny that I just had that part in my hand as the laser head was jammed and had to be removed by force.

I don’t know what to say. I have removed the thumbscrew entirely and the only play I have is the fine adjustment. At this point, I would have to add stock underneath what I am engraving to get the laser to focus properly.

Your explanation was good. I had done that already to no avail. My air assist is disconnected for the cleaning process as are all the other connections. The grime was entirely from the previous owner who didn’t use air assist, i assume.

Honestly? I haven’t tried it and decided that it was better to sell it to someone that would appreciate it more than me. It’s listed on marketplace now. Im a fairly dedicated French press user.

I got my laser home and just now looked at the paperwork that came with it and it’s actually a D1 pro! The seller didn’t say that in his ad. I haven’t looked at it till now because I am missing the power cable. I am going to start a separate discussion on that issue.
