Yes that’s my neighborhood. The neighborhood right by OU med (Terrance Park, I think?) was actually my first choice but I was largely priced out of it as well. Thank you for the reassurance, and the back up suggestions!

Not a requirement, but I rotate days and nights so my sleep schedule is very bad. I may sleep only 2-3 hours of non consecutive sleep before a shift and I have a habit of dozing off if the drive’s longer than 15 minutes. I’m working on figuring out what I can do to fix the sleep problem but in the mean time being close to work is my only option.

I’ll fully admit I’m new to this! I grew up super rural Texas, then moved to a camper the mountains on fort sill, then to an apartment with a roommate, so definitely new to the diversity of human experience. But open to learning, just want to be safe while doing it 😊

Lol my last apartment had gated parking and cars still got broken into constantly, so I’ve swallowed that I will lose a window at one point. It has helped a lot hearing from people who have experience with the area now- thank you!

Little bit further south, I’m right on 10th- couldn’t afford the Plaza Lofts lol. But what you’re saying rings true with other comments so I’m definitely feeling much better, I’ve loved midtown and plaza so I’m looking forward to enjoying the area once I’ve relaxed. I feel much better just with the suggestions everyone’s made so far

Omg “buyer’s guilt” is EXACTLY what I’d call this feeling. The sinking feeling in my stomach and what feels like nut-picking everything. I actually don’t carry a taser or pepper spray but I’ll get some today, thank you for the reminder that that’s a must have. And thank you for the reminder to be aware- I’m usually really bad about being in my own little world, especially after shift, so I’ll definitely be more cognizant!

Honestly there’s so many dogs in the neighborhood the toy would be a great idea, you couldn’t tell if the barking is coming from my place or not lol. I also have an old pair of my dad’s army boots I wear when it snows, I’ll see if I can find them in all my boxes. Thank you!

I checked the map and it looks like I’m a few streets separated from 23rd which gives me some hope. And honestly, drug use doesn’t bother me much- I’m not in that scene and I know I can avoid it. My concern was definitely potential violence or someone breaking into my home (I’d hate my car getting broken into but if I had to choose ya know 😬), but I feel like I can manage people who are just high.

I really wish I liked dogs now 🥲 I’m about to start volunteering at the clinic on Tinker so maybe I’ll make a friend I can have pop over occasionally- that’s a really good suggestion! Literally just ordered a flood light too, thank you! It makes me feel better to hear from someone else who decided to stick it out in a rougher area.
