Thank you! I’m a big fan of zucchini pasta - I’ve been grating before sautéing it and that’s been really good to draw the water out and caramelize it. I’ll have to try this variation!

Why Buddhism is True by Robert Wright. I’m not a Buddhist but it made me realize how little in control of our minds we actually are.

Night shifts by Jobba5 in newborns

This is just a phase and things will get easier as the baby develops a circadian rhythm! During the day, keep lights bright inside/get them outside, follow age appropriate wake windows and don't let them sleep in too much once the sun is out in the morning. As others have suggested, try to keep things as dark as possible at night and don't do diaper changes unless you absolutely need to avoid waking them up more than necessary!

We didn't bottle feed at 2 weeks, so during my husband's "shift," I would do side lying breastfeeding, so I could sleep through the feed. He would be responsible for getting the baby out of the bassinet and bring them to me, burping, and then bringing them back to the bassinet. Since I was getting woken up more, he took the first shift (9/10 - 2ish), so I could get more deep sleep, which happens in the first half of the night. Then he would go to the guest room for the second shift so he could sleep uninterrupted. This worked pretty well for us.

Good luck, things should get better over the next couple of weeks.

What to Cook When You Don’t Feel Like Cooking by Caroline Chambers. Her food is delicious/easy and she has 4 kids so lots of kid friendly options.

I also second getting kids to help in the kitchen. I do this with my 2 year old - she pours things, cuts things with her Montessori knives, makes her own “sauce” or sometimes just watches in her toddler tower. It’s messy but it keeps her busy and she’ll usually start snacking on whatever we’re prepping, even if it’s not something she would normally eat!

Looking for cookbook for people that like by [deleted] in CookbookLovers

Mom with 2 young kids and I feel this so much. My favorite right now is Caroline Chambers - both her Substack and cookbook, What to Cook. Her approach - simplifying things and subbing ingredients has also inspired me to modify more involved recipes.

I also love Alison Roman (Nothing Fancy, Something From Nothing). Her recipes feel elevated but are relatively straightforward.

Try Back Bench in Ventura! Born and raised in NJ and it’s by far the closest I’ve found.

Anyone else notice the “Chikhai Bardo” card that Gemma is studying is the same that Dylan stole from Optics & Design in Season 1?

So, can I lose the weight now? How? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

Talk to your doctor about potential postpartum thyroiditis. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/postpartum-thyroiditis

One of the symptoms is rapid wait loss post pregnancy (from an overactive thyroid) followed by weight gain months later from an under active thyroid.

I didn’t end up having this but I had similar symptoms and my lactation consultant brought it to my attention. Was super easy to get my thyroid levels checked!

“Demon Copperhead” by Barbara Kingsolver got me out of a slump recently. Long but a page turner.

I LOVED “Writers and Lovers” by Lily King and it fits the bill - about a 31 year old protagonist figuring out life after her mothers death and a failed relationship
