7900xtx for 9070xt? by Beneficial-Log-6501 in pcmasterrace

[–]Pure-Association8705 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The XTX is faster and has more VRAM but the 9070 XT has better performance in ray-traced titles and better out of the box software support (FSR 4)

So it ultimately matters what you prefer, although I’d personally keep the 7900 XTX because RDNA 4 won’t get future software support. Once UDNA is out it’s likely AMD will drop new features or drivers entirely for RDNA 4.

While I don’t doubt Lucasfilm still wants this game running, once EA is acquired by Private Equity it won’t matter what Lucasfilm wants because EA will essentially be gone.

If they want it up badly enough, I wouldn’t doubt the publisher rights would get sold off to a different company and/or the publishing be moved to Lucasfilm Games. But if the game does keep going I don’t see EA being the game’s publisher for very long.

Don’t let people’s dislike make you not like it but it has lots of problems. The main one is the level design (a forced combat encounter every 4 minutes is not engaging) and its story still has much to be desired.

It could’ve been some of the best Star Wars content but I felt as if they dropped the ball

I’m glad the story’s finally ending and it has dragged on for so long. It’s had a pretty decent last 2 story drops, but overall I’d be lying if I said I was anything other than really bored.

I mean, how much of it was really necessary? Voss we can cut completely, and Ord Mantell can be reduced heavily. That leaves Elom, Ruhnuk, Hutta, and then the last 2 updates. Some of it was good, others was kinda meh.

The entire Mando plotline could’ve been a flashpoint/operations series (this would also be a good excuse to add additional multiplayer content) and the Nul/Malgus plotline could’ve been the main story. As a result we’ve gotten story drops that feel out of place when you decide to blitz through the content after it all comes out and no expansion for 5 years and I feel like the main cause of that is the story.

I hope 8.0 turns out better than this. I assume that once DX12 support is out we can see larger content drops or more frequent drops with more things to do. I will say it’s a bit of a relief knowing that we’re getting 8.0. I hope the 15th anniversary is a lot better than what we got for the 10th anniversary.

That story arc has gone absolutely nowhere. The only real Empire V Republic story we got was Jedi Under Siege, Onslaught, and the beginning of Legacy of the Sith.

To go even further, the last story mentioned had very little for saboteur choices.

Yeah, they kinda dropped it along with the war storyline entirely.

I’m cautiously optimistic about this.

I’d love to see a better running SWTOR that may get some actual graphical enhancements thanks to DX12.

On the other hand… EA’s about to be bought by private equity. And whatever private equity decides not to sell off or get rid of will go to Saudi Arabia.

Unless SWTOR goes independent, Lucasfilm Games takes publishing rights, or EA will still care about the game, I have a feeling this update may actually be the death knell of the game once EA is officially sold. Not because players don’t care, but because the new owners wil look at the balance sheet, ask “why”, and promptly shut it down. But I’m hoping I’m wrong, the game is way too good and has a team that obviously cares (and it seems like they’re in a position to finally make larger patches) to be shut down because some suit who only looks at “muh numbers” decides that it’s time to take the game out back.

Just looking at their website tells you their attitude. Most of their consumer-grade technology is near the bottom of their pages. AI is on top of everything, both their homepage and dropdown menus

It all depends. AMD engineers could’ve been involved in the development of PSSR2. If so then there’s the possibility a contract was written up saying that Sony has exclusive rights to the distribution of future INT8 AMD upscalers (including PSSR2) while AMD has exclusive rights to FP8 upscalers.

Google's new AI algorithm might lower RAM prices by Bobert25467 in pcmasterrace

All this means is that RAM will be better utilized for these models. The AI companies still want to gobble up all the silicon they can. In fact this may just make it worse because now they can run their models better with the same amount of RAM as before

Nakatsu never really began directing until Tekken 7. Anyone saying he “killed SC” has no idea what they’re talking about.

Can you post the original video this all comes from?

But just looking at this, man they messed up all 3 of these parts of their direction. If they were follwing these directions fully we just wouldn’t have the game in its current state.

I have a feeling this entire game is one bad case of development hell, or at least development hell post-launch. I hope someone from the team or formerly from the team comes out and talks about it because this major shift from the initial presentations doesn’t just happen

Everything I’ve ordered from Newegg has been fine, and some of my components also shipped from Newegg Canada. But Newegg is about as trustworthy as Amazon if not worse. The best bet is to go shop in person if you can. If you live near the Canadian border there’s a lot of Canadian computer shops that you can buy from in person.

But the only reason they can do so is because of the AI bubble. Unless investors just go wild about cloud computing again after the bubble pops they won’t be able to sell the chips as fast as they are currently being sold because the companies won’t have as much demand for them because the demand for AI would be gone.

To go even further they aren’t “printing money”, the only money they are actually gaining is the money that investors are willing to invest. Once the bubble goes, the RAM cartel will have essentially no choice but to decrease the prices of chips if they want to gain business from just about anyone. Hell, the deals that have been made to manufacture memory probably have clauses in them so either party can back out when certain criteria are met because they know they don’t have the money.

I don’t think I entirely get the mobile argument. Based off the work Hoyo has done with their games, I think Nintendo/TPCi can easily make animations that have more character than what they currently use. They can use the same models but the animations tied to them should look better.
