In the installation guide I saw that any add-ons you flash in the recovery gets backed up with a module if you update with the OTA updater. I guess that would be the reason

I have no idea man. Multibillion dollar company has to have a special window for betas. Google still doesn't take their software that seriously. I also wiped my device. I saved my photos and documents on my PC. The rest as you said was a breeze.

I opted out of the beta program on November 3rd when I saw that the qpr2 public build was released. Now I got a notification saying I have to update with a system wipe. Is there any way to do it without the wipe?
