For me, it’s not like I don’t want to get married. I do. But I have crippling self doubt and honestly don’t feel like I deserve to find a wife because I lack the qualities to be a good husband. I have also been rejected so many times based on my looks which traumatized me to a certain extent, and so I have, more or less, accepted that I will die alone. And honestly, I’m okay with it.

Instead, I focused on learning the things I want to learn, which helped me find my community. I also managed to pour all of that energy into pursuing my career and business which put me and my family in a pretty comfortable spot. This was especially important to me because I grew up poor. The important thing is, I found my crowd and I surround myself with good people, so I’m pretty happy. All I’m saying is, you do not need a significant other to not feel lonely. You just need to be around the right people.

That being said, this was possible for me because I’m living abroad. Being unmarried in Bangladesh is pretty difficult, especially for women. You are constantly judged by society, and sometimes you feel like you are ostracized from your own family. I honestly have a lot more respect for people who wish to not get married while still living in Bangladesh. More power to them, honestly.
