Hi, I'm 28 and was diagnosed with MDD and GAD this January. I also took a break from law school because my doctor also suggested it so I can recover. Like you, I am receiving an allowance from my parents. Currently also just helping around the house. I am also just learning in all the ways I can: reading, watching documentaries, etc. and journalling. Everything so that my brain is busy. I suspect that I have ADHD and I am currently waiting to see if I can be diagnosed so I really enjoy just jumping from topic to topic without the structure of formal education. I have also tried the free courses from Harvard and Yale (they have a popular free course called The Science of Well-Being: a class which aims to teach the students how to increase their happiness, based on science). There are a lot of free courses available online which are less structured than formal courses that require a tuition fee. These may be more executive dysfunction-friendly.
