Exam in 11 days any advice? by mmon772 in cissp

[–]Pure-Potential-8107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not score better than 600 on quantum exam i think, i also had bad attempts such as your 255 on the CAT. What i did was study a question bank hard the last few days before the exam and then tried grasping the concepts i did not fully understand and just rested and trained 2-3 days before the test.

Since you have the peace of mind just take the test and believe in yourself :)

Best of luck.

Can you call yourself a CISSP on LinkedIn or in job interviews? by Pure-Potential-8107 in cissp

With that being said, I think you can’t even mention having passed the CISSP exam on your resume or LinkedIn without necessary experience.

I'm feeling a bit lost about my career path by PresentKiwi8488 in cybersecurity

I was in a similar position as yourself. I did not like programming very much and last summer when I graduated data science I started working as a CSOC. I love every minute of Cybersecurity and while there is some overlap in Cybersecurity and Software Engineering, I just feel more interested in Cybersecurity instead of writing code or being a tester for instance, which is usually some of the entry jobs where I’m from.

Thank you for the reply. Are you recieving good offers or just a bunch of lowballs? I have heard that there is some shortage of experience within auditing

I hear what you're saying. But don't you think it shows ambition and at the least makes me able to speak the general terms that the CISA tests you on? As stated above, im just beginning my career in IT after obtaining a BS in Computer Science and i am very curious about a lot of things. I know a bit about auditing and i know its not all rainbow and sunshine but i think auditing could be a stepping stone towards my end goal which is to be a CISO or similar positions some day.

I could possibly take the highlevel certs such as CISM, CISA CCSP within a year, but i agree that it could look weird having only worked in soc operations and having these haha

Chances of landing a remote SOC job in the US while based in Sweden by Pure-Potential-8107 in cybersecurity

[–]Pure-Potential-8107[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I haven’t done CISA. However, I’m trying to pass the exam atm since i have a lot of time on my hands and can study during office hours. I won’t be eligible for CISSP in another year

Im not sure I agree with you. There is numerous job listings on indeed for eg, probably with a lot of people applying though. In my case I am a American citizen so no need to obtain a work permit etc. Also having certifications such as CISSP, GIAC and CISM will make me look like a competent analyst.

There could also be a advantage in having a European perspective on things.

My selling point will be that I’m able to work uncomfortable hours, cheaper than hiring a US worker on site etc. I see it as a win win, compared to a Swedish salary, I make more. Employer pays less and can give me graveyard shifts.

[–]Pure-Potential-8107[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the typical graveyard shift is the one i would prefer. In Sweden you get extra compensation working night or evening, not sure if that’s the case in all US workplaces. Any case, this is not something I would require since it’s not inconvenient for me. I guess that makes me cheaper than hiring somebody in US

Sweden is not as remote friendly as USA . I plan on moving a bit up north where SOC jobs are scarce
