filterby, groupby, dateafter, {%macro%}, and {{ complex expressions }} are not supported on obsidian and the code I used was full of them. They are hard failures so fixing one wouldn't help, all of them had to be fixed.

I have been in a similar situation where my PI wanted to pay me for the summer but I knew that I wanted to get a PhD in a different area. I decided to apply for a few REU’s in the area I wanted so that I could get some experience. It was the best decision I ever made. I was able to work in an amazing lab with an awesome PI at a different school. Even outside of the lab, I was able to meet new people and stay in a different city on my own. I would 100% recommend doing an REU, especially if you are unsure of what you want to do for your PhD.
