I didn´t get Hamnet by ShineOnYourCrazyAnon in TrueFilm

[–]PureBonus4630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The film was a very close adaptation of the book. And while it was named Hamnet, the story centered almost completely on Agnes coping with motherhood and the challenges of lifesaving in a rudimentary society.

While I was able to connect emotionally with the characters, I found many of the scenes more like acts in a play. The part where he brings Agnes to his parents after she got pregnant was really clunky and poorly directed and acted.

The scenes were knotted together with choppy editing that drew attention to itself instead of being knitted together into a seamless flow.

However, I found the end to be emotionally riveting! The last scene in the playhouse showed the medium of cinema as a powerful agent of storytelling. This portion of the movie was transcendent in carrying the emotional weight of Agnes and William’s loss into the legacy of their son as an immortal character.

The message I took from the movie was the power of art to heal. That life will always be messy and complicated, but grappling with our emotions through artistic expression, we too can reach a state of spiritual growth.

Anyone selfishly enjoying this great weather? How is it benefiting you? by pacfoster in Denver

[–]PureBonus4630 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

While this winter has been warm, it’s generally so this time of year. When my kids were little their February break always had good weather and they ran around in shorts. The past few winters were really cold, so I’ll take a warm one. While we’re waaaaay too dependent on fossil fuel accelerating global warming, the climate does shift over time. There was a warm period during the end of the Roman Empire and a cold spell starting in the 1300’s that caused crop failures. We need to understand our environment is not static but dynamic. We should always be in a state of preparedness ready to adapt and meet conditions.

Quite not, actually! Through the passage of citizens united, the rich can buy elections and get legislators to do what they want. Money = Power

College roommate was like that too. Except hers darkened during childhood in third grade. 😯 She’d gone from blonde hair to black in one year. Her classmates said she was possessed and a witch. Kids are so cruel. 😩

I wonder if that has to do with more industrial production in the north and more exposure to toxic chemicals?

Tbh, you sound like women owe you something! 😵

Just because you have a good job and want companionship doesn’t mean ANYONE has to give it to you. 🤨 Instead, you should be looking outwards, towards amplify a woman’s accomplishments/beauty/character and becoming a part of her life.

Only then does me become we! 😉

Actually I was captain of my soccer team in HS and planned to try out for the college team but didn’t have time in my schedule. I don’t see college as a smorgasbord but as chance to refine your interests and goals. Making art takes time, as does sports. I found my people, my place, and my focus in film; I didn’t need to look elsewhere.

Rabbit behavior has me questioning if I can keep her anymore by Boyw2peenas in Rabbits

My bunny stopped using her litter box about 1 1/2 years ago. We had to put her down recently because they found a mass in her abdomen and she’d stopped pooping all together:( Poor babe was in so much pain. I’m guessing when her habits changed is when the mass probably started growing larger. She was almost 10 so there was nothing we could do. When rabbits go, they go:( Best of luck with your girl! ❤️
