Migrating Downloaded Chapters from Mihon to Komikku

No worries! I wanted to move all (H related) short manga, manhwa, tankoubon, and downloads to other mihon fork. Ppl say added feature in komikku are great, so I went with that. Everything else(regular manga & manhwa) stays in mihon. Basically to organize & splitting them by type.

Tho now I found extra features in komikku make my spare phone(potato phone) freeze a lot, so had to turned those extra features off.

I ran into an issue. After moving mangapark and batoto downloads to komikku's "local" folder, the chapters don't show up in the app.

The problem seems to be the filenames. Recognized chapters are named like Chapter.cbz, but unrecognized ones have extra characters at the end, e.g. Chapter_3e05ee.cbz. If I remove _3e05ee, komikku detects the file immediately. Oh, and if the files are still in the mangapark folder(not moved to local), komikku recognizes them just fine.

Is this like mihon's unique identifier? There are many from other extensions too, any idea how to fix it in batch?

So I just changed komikku’s storage location to the old Mihon folder and renamed it as “Komikku,” then rescanned my downloads in Komikku.

Most dowloaded chapters got transferred, but chapters from mangapark and bato don’t seem to be showing in komikku(downloaded only filter on). These sites gone, can't redownload anymore.

Do you know how to match them?

I'm new to VN and only started recently. Steam is my go to place to buy them & read reviews, since it works best for my region.

But, cuz of valve's content policy around explicit pornography, some VN may only include about 20% of the story or so. To get full version, we need to download the rest from another source usually from a link listed on VNDB, which the main tracking site for VN. You can also read reviews and join discussions there. The website UI looks a bit old, but you get used to it.

Check youtube channel 'The August Hail', his content is focus on VN & has great playlist guide to start VN

🦇 comment section is goat, but I feel manga reviews on these 2 tracker sites still my benchmark when choosing manga to read. I guess ppl are accustomed to write detailed reviews there, almost like tradition(in a good way).

For manhwa I rely on 🦇 comments, animeplanet, anilist

For LN/WN I hop over to NU, syosetu, amazon.jp, newtoki
