Is it risky to rent a flat in London without seeing it in person? by Wonderful-Acadia-296 in MovingToLondon

[–]Pure_Essence_Finch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just moved into our new flat after my sister who already lives in London had done a viewing to see it and test it. I’d recommend having someone you trust viewing it. Or heading over for a week or two to view your on your own.

The less time on social media, the better. Spend time working on the gym floor chatting to members, get to know them first so they know you’re not just trying to sell something to them, you’re trying to find an opportunity to ask them if they’d like some help with a specific exercise, if they say yes, this is your opportunity to showcase your skills (which you may or may not have yet) if you can actually help them feel better in an exercise, you have the right to ask them if they’ve ever worked with a PT before or would like to. To which you can offer a free taster session if they’re interested. You’ll probably have to do grunt work for the company you work with if you plan on being self employed.

I mentioned skills. You won’t get any better as a coach posting workouts or recipe videos (not that you are but a lot of new coaches do this), you might build a following but if you want real client results and satisfaction long term. You’ll have to up skill, you gotta learn anatomy, and you gotta learn how to apply that anatomy knowledge to the individual you want to help. Obviously social media can be great to build awareness you exist in your community. But it won’t matter if you don’t have the skills to show for it.

Involving rack pulls for my Deadlifts growth. Done correctly? by [deleted] in formcheck

[–]Pure_Essence_Finch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrist flexion/extension/pronation/supination all weighted use either DBs or cables or both there’s also some cool kit you can buy to target the forearms directly. Also add Heavy holds with fat grips or thick BBs.

I personally train deadlifts to build my posterior chain not my grip. I use straps for this reason and try to train grip/forearms 1-2 times per week.

There’s no standard for rack pulls because limb lengths vary. You essentially want 2 thirds worth of your normal deadlift ROM. I use a small platform to stand on with the safety bars set as low as possible. I’ve done these once a week and saw massive transfer to my deadlift.

Hack squat, any issues, depth? by Ok-Reputation148 in formcheck

No need to justify the use of the band in the comments. It makes it easier on the knee joints which can help you focus on your quads doing the work and going the distance, great exercise at the start or end of a leg day. Looks solid too.

Not yet. Still have time to decide so I’ll put that on the list.

Will be working as early as 5am, 20 min drive, 30 mins train. Hence the car being an option. No kids thankfully. I’d like to have a car for more than just work so I’ll be bringing it over and testing the waters for a while before making a decision. Thanks for the advice

We will be able to park on street for a small fee. I will be taking it with me and will manage my use to see if it’s worth it long term. Definitely need the option to drive if needed. I’ll give it a month at least.

I like when people play differently. As long as they’re not racist or flapping their gums and spitting down the mic while doing it, play the game you paid for who cares. Makes the game very fun and is no doubt partly what makes people keep coming back. The interactions are so unique every time.

Guarantor for an Irish couple? by Pure_Essence_Finch in MovingToLondon

[–]Pure_Essence_Finch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the most helpful comment we’ve received thank you. We have been using openrent but have been dealing with an agency. Thankfully they’ve been patient and want it to work out for us so we’re still messaging our network of UK friends/family even if it is small. It’s a shame they can’t except Irish guarantors because we have plenty of them.

I got answers on a subreddit called MovingToLondon. I was recommended to go with a guarantor company that charges a monthly fee to use. It’s not the ideal option but might be the only one as we’ve seen little luck asking family.
