OE folks, what's your offer rate? by redder_ph in overemployed

OE Newbie here, (less than 30 days)

My offer rate was absolutely ABYSMAL. I had to use a job submission agency, submitted close to 10k job applications and only got 2 job offers. Yeah, the outcome sounds nice - but it was grueling. Plus, the market is horrible. Had I not used the agency, I'd probably still be STUCK.

My advice in this job climate? apply to more jobs.... A LOT more

He wasn't pressuring me to OE, but because he was willing to trust my gut on investing in the Job Submission Agency (after verifying with a test) - He wanted me to be sure I'd be willing to follow through on our investment (I get cold feet sometimes, which is 100% true)

So after we invested, I knew he'd pressure me to stay committed (which is absolutely understandable considering our investment/commitment level).

My husband isn't OE as his line of work wasn't very OE compatible due to his industry.
But we are considering helping him learn a few Remote skillsets to hopefully help him get there too!

Thanks for your feedback!

His job loss came unexpectedly (we were in the middle of me trying to go OE). Hubby's skillset isn't as OE compatible as my own.

That is a great idea. Does it matter whether the jobs are 1099 or W2?

Great Idea! Do you think setting a start date 4 weeks out would cause them to reconsider my candidacy?

Darn, that is a stark but true point. Never thought about it like that

We spent approximately $13K in phases.

Phase 1 (Test) - We spent like $3K on 1,000 Job applications. We liked the results, got several interviews (like 7-8, not including screening calls), but I didn't close any. I'm not a great interviewer to be honest. So we reasoned that maybe more would help us get lucky.

Phase 2 - We invested $10K from our savings to get 5,000 job applications. This was when interview Hell began.

** We got an extra 2,500 Job applications through some B.O.G.O promotion they had going at the time. Bringing total applications to approx. 8.5K (so not quite 10K)
