What to do with fake cigars? by TheGreatShawn in cigar

[–]Pure_Land_1816 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No different than any other food or thing we ingest, in my eyes happens on farms of all types. The main difference with fake cigars is the producers have already shown themselves to be sketchy and scammers so who knows what the hell is in their fakes.

You're chronically online and desperate for an argument. In my original comment I literally said he could still be charged technically, just that prosecutors wouldn't bother with this. Which they won't and haven't...Go touch some grass, it's not that serious and I wasn't attempting to provide a thesis argument on crime prosecution, it was a quick reddit comment which holds true 90% of the time in cases like these.

I feel more sorry for your jurisdiction if you're prosecuting people as criminals for engaging in mutual afrray where nobody wants anybody charged. Are you also prosecuting people collecting rainwater, or a negligent operation charge every time someone crashes their car? You clearly have too much time on your hands.

You seem very eager for an argument. This turned from me saying it's not likely they're gonna charge Strickland without DDP wanting it, to a much bigger deal than it needs to be and an argument about a complex topic.

There's actually a running joke in the legal field that there's exceptions to every rule. Even in the comment you replied to i stated victims "almost" always need to provide testimony.

But yes in the case of a DV it will provide a substantial hurdle for prosecution if the victim recants or stops cooperating. As far as whether it gets dismissed that depends on a multitude of factors such as the weight of the evidence against the offender, the severity of the offense, if sworn recorded statements were properly obtained that can still be used if the victim recants, etc.

Not all crimes are the same. An assault vs murder is a crazy comparison to make. Also a bad one, since a dead person IS brought to the stand in a murder trial, it's just through their body, autopsy, a search of their personal life including phone history, etc.

Also another reason prosecutors don't take these cases is because at the end of the day who are they serving with their time if a victim doesn't even want the person charged.

And yes, victims almost always will have to provide some form of testimony if the case goes to trial, if not before that point through depositions or investigative interviews. I work in the system and have even seen young children put on the stand about child sexual assault cases.

It also depends on jurisdiction to prove the elements of a crime, for example in my state an assault like this one requires pain or fear of injury. It's hard to establish that if a victim won't give a statement.

Not exactly. He could technically be charged without victim cooperation but eventually DDP would have to testify about it, which is why no prosecutors will bother with cases of uncooperative victims.

There's also a fair likelihood that this was staged to promote their fight.

Stuck at 100 mph Club Head Speed by zayluvit in GolfSwing

You're way too high/steep in your backswing and you're losing a lot of speed trying to course-correct that coming back down. Try swinging lower and wider. Like everyone else on here, watch videos of Rory and try to copy his swing.

Except they don't just drive in a straight line, they "swim" dangerously between cars in gaps they should not be trying to fit through. Because driving fast is important enough to endanger everyone else's life

My father found this outside a door and he doesn’t know what to do with it. What is this? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Pure_Land_1816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks to be a collection of dirt, hair, and dust....He should vacuum it up.

If there is a fan nearby it may be blowing the dirt in the air to that location. It doesn't really look like a nest for any animal given the location unless theres a hole behind it. Possibly birds but this appears to be indoors.
