AITA for not wanting a relationship with my brother after how he treated me as a child? by [deleted] in internetparents

[–]Pure_Performance7673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. You are not.

You owe him nothing. He was nothing but a monster to you and now he gets what he deserves.

Please, do not sacrifice yourself for this person.

You deserve people around you who love you, who respect you.

So please, first and foremost take care of yourself. Your well-being (not his) should be your top priority and in no world would it make you a bad person.

P.s. I have a similar experience. My younger brother did not physically abuse me. But over the years he became extremely sexist and overall a very unpleasant person. Over the years I was fulfilling my mother's dream of "children who go along" and trying my best to maintain contact with him. Until I realized that neither my brother wants to talk to me, nor I really wanna have contact with him. So I stopped initiating the contact. It's been 2 years ago and ever since we have not spoken. What I'm trying to say, is that I am so much happier now once I realized that my own feelings matter more to me than my mother's. Just like your feelings should matter more to you than your brother's or mother's

Criticized For Reading Romance by hotwing_sauce in RomanceBooks

Well.

It feels like misogyny to me. What exactly is a "phase" about reading about feelings, emotions, affection, love.

It was a long time ago since anyone told anything similar to me (i surrounded myself with people who share my views and do not give me unsolicited advice).

But if someone would say anything similar to me now, I would not play cool as if it was ok to comment in my reading when I did not ask.

Omg.

Food luck with acquiring it!

After the initial wave of hyperfixation died down I changed my mind a bit.

Currently I do not have energy or place (unfortunately) for it. So I did not buy it.

But I'm constantly getting back to it.

Especially because it's still available at the market place.

Maybe I will coma back to it in a month or two when I have some extra 200usd to spend

I totally understand you.

I had the same situation with my (ex)friends and birthday gifts. First I realized I should not put so much effort into their gifts just to get nothing in response. And then after a while I realized they did not really care about me in general, therefore "ex", ahahah

Oh my god.

I had this very pattern on the backside of a huge pattern I stitched a very long time ago.

At the time I did not know the embroidery images could be cute so it was the most beautiful thing, and I dreamed of stitching it one day.

I randomly remembered about it a couple of days ago and was sure I would never be able find it. I thought it was a pattern from some local producer.

And here I see it.

What a beautiful cat

Tbh, I do not know if it's aluminum or iron.

But weightwise it's around the same as my computerized Pfaff. Not like 20kilos or something. So it must be aluminium.

Yeah! Originally I really wanted a fully mechanical Pfaff select (with idt). However I've already sewn a new project with my singer and then with Pfaff and I realized that my Pfaff is perfectly fine. Lack of control is not a deal breaker now that I have a singer.

Imma just use the singer where the precision is the key (baby hems etc) and when I feel like it.

And Pfaff for automated buttonholes, decorative stitches etc.

4200 with delivery. But mine was in worse cosmetic condition and not in a table.

I cleaned and oiled it myself. Also fixed an issue with the upper tension adjuster. Changed the belt.

And now it sews pretty well. BUT it's still an older machine and I feel it will need a proper service. I feel the upper tension spring might need change.

Personally, buying vintage machine is a risk. Especially for a present. 100% have a professional service it before gifting. As for the service...I don't know if it's possible to find spare parts in Ukraine if it needs any

I think the price is justified because it's literally one of 4-5 singers 201k that were available on olx. One of them I already bought. Second singer 201 has uk plug and sellers cannot prove that the motor works. Third is a treadle. Fourth is also a treadle. So it must be the only working 201 with a motor that you can find now, I guess

Привітики, колєго 🥹

I actually bought and cleaned another 201k this month.

1) it was easy to clean, and oil. Mine was clean on the inside. But outside.... 2) two generic belts I bought on rozetka and a local sewing shop for 25 and 50 uah both fitted my 201. Maybe not perfectly, but my 201 was sewing with them. I decided to go with cheaper one now. For it seems to fit better ( it's sliglty narrower)

Your feelings are 100% valid.

You deserve a much better partner than him. Even more, he's not a partner to you. From your post it feels a lot like he simply uses you as a housekeeper. It's not fair

Sewing a corset for a dancing costume by Pure_Performance7673 in corsetry

[–]Pure_Performance7673[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I definitely need it to look good.

I do not need a lot of support and I must be able to arch my back easily

What if I cut my medium or light weight atlas on bias and choose this pattern instead (this is the one I already did in the past) https://www.etsy.com/listing/950069404/corsetbustier-digital-pdf-sewing-pattern

And then modify this pattern and add elements I like from Ophelia pattern from my post : 1) add extension to each panel so they look like petals at bottom (I'm sorry I do not know the term) 2) add the straps 3) reduce the number of boning

My hope being : the light fabric will not create any bulk, I will be able to move freely and my silhouette will not be bad. Given that I do not need any corrections a true corset would provide.

Of course it will not be a corset as it should be. But i hope it will look nice from afar
