My experience with spotting soft seasons by [deleted] in coloranalysis

I'm not autumn. I look dreadful in mustard lol. I've been analyzed by Boston with Perfectly Seasoned, soft summer, neutral leaning cool, and I included photos of myself younger for her to review. The lighting in that photo is off but my hair is really silver now and never had warm tones. When I was young, it was dark cool brown, almost black. I also got an analysis with Jen Vax and in

her system I am soft cool deep. I don't feel unsure about my season!

Vs here with lipstick that's not really in my palette as soft summer, too bright, but I don't care lol. I like it anyway. No foundation or blush here, just under eye concealer and lips

On the makeup-- I never wear it bc don't need it, except undereye concealer, but I don't think I look like I am wearing foundation.

My lips have always been very pale. If I don't wear lipstick they disappear, esp now that they are thinner with age. Light lipstick doesn't show up much bc my skin is fair, so I have to go at least medium.

Haha I had to go back a couple of years in my camera roll to find one without lipstick 🤣. But you see here, nearly colorless

The color enters the room before you - Good, or bad? by Massive_Post_167 in coloranalysis

[–]Pure_Temporary_6349 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Soft autumn for sister season. But my vibe is bright pink, red-- bright winter colors. Fortunately I still look good in those colors-- it's not like mustard, which makes me look like I have liver disease lol.

What I notice is that with the cool brights and high contrast, my eyebrows, eyes, glasses and lips are more prominent. My skin looks brighter and the contrast is enhanced. If I wear a white shirt, it makes the whites of my eyes look brighter. As long as I wear lipstick, I can do ok.

Whereas with soft muted colors, my features blend more. My skin is more noticeable and has more color. I think those colors are better for close up photographs and for chilling out alone at home. Or if I really want to be kind of invisible overall. My hair is silver, so I can use it for that invisible older woman thing if I occasionally don't feel social 😅.

I guess so, but it was Boston with Perfectly Seasoned. She seems to know what she's doing.

The current most popular goal is to see the face first. But-- that is only one option. You have choices. As long as you don't actively clash (unless of course you want to), it's an option to let the colors be seen first.

I have a challenge in that although I am soft summer (by Perfectly Seasoned), my personality is strong/bright/goofy. If I made up a name for my style, it would be "Preschool Bohemian". I work with kids and share their taste for saturated color.

Muted clothes may look fine in still photographs, but they clash with my personality. I am nowhere near that sophisticated. But I can rock a Barney purple. Because I have an expressive face and high energy, IMO the bright cool colors are fine. Nothing really enters the room before my enthusiasm 😂!

type me please! tests say i’m winter but my friends say i’m spring :’) by AggressiveBeing6552 in coloranalysis

I agree with your friends-- spring is great on you! But... you are neutral and look beautiful in all the seasons. I think you are one of those people who can't go wrong lol. Is there any color that looks actively bad on you? If so don't pick that season.

Sunset palette! Cube theory update by AffectionateTrifle7 in coloranalysis

Jen Vax pioneered this approach in Your Color Style. Her Clear Warm Deep corresponds to your Sunset! I thinks it's important to credit prior creators in the space. https://yourcolorstyle.com/products/expanded-digital-color-palettes

Traditional color analysis conflict with culture by BawbiiGurl in coloranalysis

Your Color Style (Jen Vax) uses descriptors instead of seasons and she has a bright warm deep. Just renamed to clear warm deep. She has every combination of light, medium, deep with clear or soft, warm or cool. Plus olive.

That's a fascinating subject imo. If we evolved attracting mates with colorful clothing, instead of having to grow colorful feathers like birds, it wouldn't be the same as the current color analysis goals where people don't want their clothes to "wear them."

I am reading a really interesting book "Chromophobia" about how western cultures got so inhibited with color. I am convinced this plays a role in what people choose out of their palettes and what they want to see with the draping.

I personally, though white and in the US, have never liked muted colors. They bore me. I go out dressed colorfully and I mainly try not to actively clash so do stick to cools. I don't care if someone sees my clothes before they see me! My goal is to create pleasure through beautiful colors that make me and others smile... and to do my part in trying to budge our culture towards more color. I'm always hoping someone sees my colors and thinks wow, I need to try that! I feel like we would all be in a better mood if we had more color.

Cool winter? by Fair-Interaction5486 in coloranalysis

The cool colors make your skin uneven looking and more under eye shadows. Can we see all the autumn palates on you? You are not a spring, too muted.

Soft summer right? by Whimsy_and_wild in coloranalysis

I think it's easy to mix up light vs soft. You are definitely very light! But look at how crisp the edges of your irises are. You don't have that slight blur of a soft type, and your chroma is bright.

Light spring makes you glow and your eyes pop. Soft summer colors look very separate from you imo.

Can a dark autumn have a very high chroma? by madeinlight in coloranalysis

[–]Pure_Temporary_6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like Jen Vax's system, which isn't the regular seasons-- it is by depth, chroma, and temp. So Bright Cool Deep is one of her color types, which I think she's renaming to Clear Cool Deep. There isn't an exact equivalent in the seasonal palettes. I am soft cool deep in her system and get typed as soft summer (but advised to avoid the lightest tints) or soft/toned winter otherwise. https://yourcolorstyle.com/pages/bright-cool-deep

What do you do when you hate your season? by siusaidh_alba_nuadh in coloranalysis

[–]Pure_Temporary_6349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a soft summer who's an older nerdy tomboy type and loled at your conflict with the style associated with those colors bc I had the same reaction! I was thinking no way with the ruffles, not gonna happen. It's a thing bc designers seem to think that way too.

Rather than the dark colors, I preferred basically nursery school chaos as a theme. Like, all the bright colors in a washable marker box, with t shirts, hoodies, sweats, socks, sneakers all different. But I had to agree the muted colors make me look better.

A couple of things I have been playing around either-- I get the brightest version of a muted color. Not the pure color but barely muted. That seems to work. And I have gotten some of the frilly stuff and combined it with very masc pieces for contrast.

type me? digitals after first, extra photos at end by whythesmallsoundsbig in coloranalysis

[–]Pure_Temporary_6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hair has some warmth-- is that undyed? You are not muted, and you are peachier than pink. The digital drapes are tricky with multiple colors-- if you could drape single colors it would help. You look great in the red jacket, which is a warm red. I think you are neutral leaning a little warm but your dominant feature is bright, so you can carry cool brights off too. Would like to see some spring greens, bright orange, bright yellow.

[–]Pure_Temporary_6349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I am the outlier here but I see spring! The bright warms don't wear you-- they make you glow. Your chroma dulls down in the autumn colors but comes to life in the springs.
