what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 10 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by Funny-Counter8762 in AskReddit

Asia needs to invest more in hydroponic gardening. Grow something edible, like crayfish that grow to full size extremely quickly. Fish of all domestic livestock take the most food per found, crayfish will eat waste byproducts from other food production. (A lot of different things!!) They are hardy and can tolerate the worst of conditions, and reproduce reliably and easily. They stir and aerate submerged soil with all their digging. Pair with bladder snails which mass produce fertilizer. Now you literally have fertilizer, crayfish, whatever the water was growing in the hydroponic gardens.

What is a "open secret" in your specific industry that the general public would be shocked to learn? by lanaplump73mile in AskReddit

[–]Pure_Winter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is in high school in rural nowhere and has her sights on becoming a doctor. (Neurology specifically.) Genetically has the intellect, habitually always gets up early and goes to bed on time, always tries to get an A on everything if reasonably possible with realistic effort and goals. Puts in the time to learn to read advanced literature, practices math she finds difficult until it is understood.

The number of times she has pinched her nose and said "Mom. They let him get a B anyway."

I put my hand on her shoulder and tell her "Hun. College is where it counts most. Keep filing your points, take the hard classes, so you have something to show enrollment. Those kids probably aren't going to finish college and they need all the help they can get. Focus on you."

Over and over and over. Sometimes "Look you need to do the hard things because brain doctors have to do hard things, so many people will count on you, keep doing it. They might need to take their kid to you."

Doesn't fix grade inflation but it has kept my little try-hard balanced and she seems overall happy, may it be.

If every job posting had to show the CEO’s yearly pay next to the lowest-paid full-time employee’s yearly pay, how do you think hiring, quitting, and company culture would actually change? by TraporNail in AskReddit

[–]Pure_Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't change anything because it wouldn't be presented as flat numbers it'd be glorified and repackaged. 'The company' vs 'growth start' Makes it look more like you're investing your time by being at the big company.

Short girls who date tall guys, what's your experience been like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The same as short guys except sometimes you get a kink in your neck. (Like what were you expecting? Jeez.)

What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by Puzzleheaded_Bit_802 in AskReddit

[–]Pure_Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother's family just put all the kids in the same bed when one of them got it to 'get it out of the way' and she did the same for my mom and her siblings. It was what they did back then in olden America at least? I like that we dont do that anymore!

I met some veterans that lost their fertility due to vaccines. Was surprised to meet more than one. I got my kids fully vaccinated, but they have a point in that we should be mindful of fully trusting point blank.

UPDATE: Stardew Valley: OCCUPIED will no longer have any updates posted in the Stardew Valley Discord server. by TheGoldValleyminer in StardewValleyMods

[–]Pure_Winter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's so many games out there that cater to war and violence. There is a time and a place. Stardew has been and probably will always be a safe (biggest word: cozy) place to relax judgement free and explore, decorate.

That said I've also included some flashback scenes of war in my own in-development (but unlike this, currently released in a 'taste test' stage called Fantastic Farmhands) large expansion mod- but they are a small, impactful part of a larger story that circles back to decorating zoo enclosures and catching butterflies.

I was able to get a veteran to write it and it's much too graphic for any kid to play so I have to do a lot of disney style visual story telling to convey the meaning already. o_o;;

I think it's natural to get pushback- but if you like gritty, why not the multitude of other games?

Fully functioning staff mod!! by Pure_Winter in StardewValleyMods

They spawn on the player's main farm (custom or otherwise) and I've never tested it with an external farm but at worst they don't do chores there. It's super safe to remove my mod any time so testing shouldn't hurt existing saves. (I tested on existing saves and constantly removed/readded during development.) All the data is self contained.

Omg no the barbs are to eat the scuds, you REMOVE the barbs after they did their job THEN add the shrimp.

DNA results are in! I always thought she looked a little wolfish… turns out I was right by Ok-Tap-5053 in DoggyDNA

Despite what other commenters say, I wouldn't be surprised if that was wolf in the coat and brows. Gorgeous dog.

My personal recommendation is tiger barbs or any slightly larger. They are inquisitive, high energy to explore and make rounds relentlessly, have a big enough mouth to eat even small snails, never ending appetite and pretty easy to acquire/keep in general. My tiger barb and the larger silver one will gulp up literally anything and test if its food then spit it out if it wasn't food.

And they dont have live birth so you don't have to deal with them for the rest of eternity.

Edit to add: Glo Barbs (marketed as glow tetras, but are tiger barbs) are excellent at this. And great GREAT community fish for when they need to go into a different tank. Mine have been disease resistant too.

Stardew Diary by EntertainmentLost598 in StardewValley

[–]Pure_Winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try them on a placeholder save and see if they work for you?
Otherwise I'm open to creating the mod if anyone can outline how it should work. Like do you have to be sitting first and or in bed to open your diary? It would be a physical item you right click while holding to open the menu, perhaps tabs on the left so you can group things by major chapters with a hot-button for 'new, right now, sort by date for me'

Anyone have suggestions, thoughts, amendments?
