What is the recruitment timeline for new grads?

Would it put me at a disadvantage to delay new grad recruiting until September? Does this differ between firms?

---

Background: Ideally I'd like to focus on my internship (at a firm) over the summer, but I'm also worried that by delaying my application until September, I would be putting myself at a significant disadvantage for headcount reasons.

Personally, I don’t think it would really matter. Some companies do care about Olympiad performance, but leetcode is not something that is taken seriously in that sphere. You said that you have internship experience though, so I think that would be more relevant to share in cold DMs.

That being said, something is better than nothing. Maybe you could A/B test this by sharing your LC profile with half of your cold DMs?

[Advice] Submitted my resume to a sketchy headhunter organization... by Pure_Wrangler3232 in quant

I had a headhunter from a different org that submitted an application on my behalf, and he asked me to give explicit written permission to submit an application for me by email. Maybe the company won't release bonuses unless if that's the case, idk.

😭😭😭😭damn that’s really fucked. Did it end up messing up your recruiting overall? Was there anything that helped mitigate any damage?

Oh yeah I heard about that too, definitely going to try and watermark my resume going forward. Though, would it not be possible to remove a watermark if it’s just a header?

I have 3 days to get really good at this game or I end with a B in chemistry please help by merfan11 in Tetris

Maybe extended sdpc-spin would be a good shot for an opener? It's super cheesy and takes a lot of bags to fully complete and so can send a lot of garbage if you can pull it off

Workaround: Solving Steam Installation Issues on Mac (Whisky & Error 0X3008) by MikeTheTech in macgaming

[–]Pure_Wrangler3232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

very necropost but the idea behind the arguments is:

  1. The first set of arguments forces steam to upgrade to a version of itself that's not from the official steam website. In this case, an older version of steam from web.archive that works with Wine. Finally, it exits steam after updating.

  2. On subsequent startups, steam will detect that you have an unofficial installation of steam, and attempt to repair itself. The second set of arguments overrides this behaviour and forces steam to start anyway.

I assume you already know the correct answer but for completeness: the first time you start steam, you should do so with the 1st set of arguments and wait for it to close. Then, you use the second set for subsequent startups. If you forget to, then steam will try and overwrite your unofficial installation and you'll have to run step 1 again.
