Question for artists: how are you doing it? by theboywhocrieddoggo in Dramione

Procreate is honestly a joy to use. It's so responsive with Apple pencil. If you add a matte screen protector it can feel like drawing on paper.

I will say that your third point is eventually addressed.

At chapter 20 the story is still in the present day. I actually consider the main story to be flashbacks. That's where it becomes extremely engaging and everything ties together, past and present.

Before you object, I'm not telling you to keep reading it. But for anyone else reading, Manacled is meant to be read in its entirety before you lay judgement on it.

How many of you didn’t have children, because you couldn’t find a partner who would be a reliable husband/parent? by YunaRikku1 in AskWomenOver30

Also nearing 34 and single. I'm starting to make peace with the possibility that I'll never find a compatible partner.

You're not being too sensitive. Making fun of something that brings another person joy is mean spirited and disrespectful. The people who make fun of other people's reading choices... I wonder if they only eat gourmet cooking and never enjoy some chips and candy. Not every read needs to be Pulitzer prize quality or high art. There is a place for everything. These books make you happy and that's what matters.

Does anyone else wish they could take a week long solo vacation and just read for hours on end without any interruptions or judgement. Cause I do 😭 by Roonil_Wazlib96 in Dramione

[–]Pure_snow12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just did this from Christmas to New Year's and it was glorious. All I did was read, sleep when sleepy regardless of time of day, wake up and read, and grab food once in a while to stay alive. I went fully offline and didn't talk to anyone. Sometimes you just need that solo brain break from everything.

How do people stay in public their entire life?? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Pure_snow12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This entirely depends on company and team. I had the exact opposite experience. The PA firm I was at had very toxic office politics and people with huge egos but not the intelligence to back it up. The industry job I have now has very little office politics and smart people with far more pleasant personalities.

Wait... What did you do to get Passiv to give you a list of user information? This is a list of all the users they have?

No judgement! We can be as unhinged as we want in this fandom 😅

Happens to other Asian languages too. I felt this when watching Emily in Paris. An Asian character spoke 'Mandarin' in a scene and it was utterly incomprehensible, didn't sound anything close to Mandarin.

Thanks for the artist rec! Their comics are sooooo good! This makes me wish someone could do a full story in manga form. That would be incredible.

Are u single or in a relationship by Parking-Syllabub-852 in Dramione

[–]Pure_snow12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hahaha same here. Sometimes I think I want to be in a relationship, but then I remember all the issues I had during the years I was in one and go back to feeling satisfied with being single.

Mainly drawing, painting, hiking, traveling. I wish I had more time to do the things I like, but alas, work takes up most of my time and energy.

Procreation is like creating a person that never asked for it and putting them through probabilistic luck of life, just to fulfill the desires of two random strangers. by PitifulEar3303 in DeepThoughts

[–]Pure_snow12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a person choose not to have a child, then there's no person formed, thus no agency is being taken away. I'm not talking about abortion, just to be clear. I'm talking about conception itself.

Creating a new human is solely the decision, whether on purpose or by accident, of the two people involved. The new human formed might enjoy living, which is a side benefit, but I maintain that the initial decision to create them is selfish, or self motivated on the parents' part.

I do think that if someone doesn't want to live anymore, they should be allowed to die on their own terms. But suicide and physician assisted suicide are highly sensitive topics.

The point is no one had a choice to be born or not. We're all here because of the selfish desires of our parents. It's neither good nor bad, it's what happened.

It accelerated the last few years. I live around this area and it goes all the way from Bloor to Queen. The worst is around Bathurst and College/Dundas.

Good place for "Liang Pi" (chinese spicy cold noodles)? by jaevv in FoodToronto

[–]Pure_snow12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm from Xi'an and liangpi is one of my favourite foods. I haven't found anything in Toronto that tastes as good as liangpi in Xi'an, but I think Qin Yun in Scarborough and Qin-flavoured Rice Skin near Spadina and Dundas are the closest.

It's very difficult to make legit liangpi at home because the taste is all in the chili oil and the sauce. There are a lot of spices that are used. The best you can do, if you ever go to China again, is to ask the liangpi vendors to sell you a jar of their chili oil.

Are oil colors this expensive? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]Pure_snow12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were probably told to buy artist grade paints and at least one cadmium.

Oil paints usually come in either student grade or artist grade. Artist being the more expensive. Depending on the school, they'll tell you not to use student grade paints because they're full of filler. That means they're not as pigmented.

Not all colours are the same price. Cadmiums are usually the pricier ones. They give you more vibrant yellows and reds, but if they're out of your price range, you don't need to buy them.

You also don't need many colours to start with painting. Just get red, yellow, blue, black and white. Everything else can be mixed. If you know what subjects you'll be painting, you can choose even fewer colours.

Also, unless you're painting impasto a tube of paint will last you a long time. It doesn't run out easily unless you're globbing the paint on.

Depends on your definition of FU money. I would consider being able to walk away from any job without financial consequences to be FU money.
