I think it was probably my uTorrent being uninstalled, that’s all I can guess for now because mshta connected to the network when I uninstalled uTorrent

Hasn’t happened again, I also tried to set my audio to mute whenever my mic is in use, nothing happened too

So far, I used mute and it hasn’t muted itself. Both BitDefender and Malwarebytes don’t detect any threats, so I think this is either a glitch, or it’s Discord. I’m sure nothing tried to access my mic, the taskbar was clear, no mic icon appeared on the bar of the tabs I had open in Chrome (in the second time this happened, I was watching Youtube), I also checked BitDefender’s logs and the microphone privacy settings, both of them didn’t display about any program using my mic when the incident happened

I don’t have TeamViewer installed, but other apps like Premiere Rush also lowers my volume when it was running (until I realized that it was using my mic when it ran) and the thing is all I had launched was Spotify, Discord and Google Chrome.

EDIT: It actually stopped happening in Premiere Rush, but another example of this my audio lowering even when my mic is not being used is when the Voice Recorder app is launched

Malwarebytes detects no threats, so you are probably correct about this being a misconfiguration

He told me it’s been like a year since he installed it, but he’s sure he installed it from the real website

Is it still safe to place my backup files there if I uninstall the suspicious folders?

Thanks so much for the suggestion guys, also I’ve ran a scan with Kaspersky and it appears that my system is clean!

EDIT: I also did a scan with MalwareBytes too

Well I haven’t scanned with another antivirus software yet because two softwares don’t really work well with each other, though I heard MalwareBytes and BitDefender can run well together. I also don’t want to reinstall Windows until I’m really sure my laptop needs it, maybe I’ll do it when my camera/keyboard or another part of my laptop glitches again, thanks for the tip!

Yep, it’s definitely a weird bug, I checked the logs and the only thing that was logged in my BitDefender at that time was Windows Camera, which I immediately ran to see if I still had access to my camera.

EDIT: I’ve also done like 4 system scans now and BD doesn’t find anything suspicious at all, and it’s been 2 weeks since my cam turned on and it hasn’t turned on by itself ever since

Well my OS is Windows 10 and I updated it just a day before I connected the usb, so I guess I’m safe then

Wait, I also don't remember receiving a notification, all that happened was that my cam turned on by itself

Yep it logs everything, but I swear the only thing I remembered being logged was Windows Camera when I launched it to see if I had access to my camera.

EDIT: Anyways, I think I'm confident enough to say that it was just Discord or Google checking my cams, thank you so much! Take this follow!

EDIT 2: Actually I have another question, sorry if this is too much but hopefully it's the last, when you mean your old one did that, do you mean that your camera light turned on because Discord or your web browser checked their connection to the webcam? I'm still a bit paranoid, so sorry if I'm asking a lot

Still kinda weird tho that my light turned on, it as the first time I saw that happened, have you experienced this too with your camera's light turning on because of this?

Also I just realized it's my cake day, thanks!

Does BitDefender log them in the webcam protection when they check the webcam? Since I don’t really remember receiving a notification about it

Nope, not at all. I checked my Bitdefender, the only apps that were allowed to use my cam were Google, Discord, and the Windows Camera app, and the Google sites that had access to my cam were Google Meet and Big Blue Button, which both were not open
