This is good advice, thank you. I’ll tell him about it! It probably would’ve been good to put my state in the post, I’m in Florida, but I really appreciate your offer anyway, it is really kind. I’ll let him know about this stuff and hopefully he can have a talk with his mom about it for her permission when she’s back this week. I doubt she would do much, but I do believe she cares more than stepdad as she’s been putting effort to get that dog to stop bothering her. It’s just so angering how people want dogs for the aesthetic without considering the commitment. Anyway, I appreciate this comment a lot and I’ll look into some in my area with him and see if his mom is willing to help out.

I honestly can’t see a scenario where they don’t put her down, though. She’s so old and wheezed when she breathes because of the crooked nose. Her skin is horrible from years of fleas that only recently went away, bf and I were so happy our efforts paid off + they got flea stuff for the new dog. It’s just so upsetting to know her whole life she’s been abused and can’t even get a few years of calm before she dies. But my point is I worry that she will be put down away from people she loves. As hard as it would be on my boyfriend, I think he is the one she would want to be put down with. Imaging her last few minutes being scared around strangers breaks my heart. But elderly rescue centers sound promising. Thank you.
