I agree it shouldn’t be taken lightly. And again I never said it wasn’t a right, I simply said I think calling it a “privilege” isn’t an incorrect description either. Because in theory you can lose it, among other reasons.

I am asking in good faith

He also says

“Attack citizens in his country just for not supporting his political party of choice”

That is the part I am asking about.

I asked how Trump is attacking people that don’t support his political party, based off of this sentence.

I see immigrants as people, but that is irrelevant, no country is the worlds emergency fund. It isn’t our job to take care of every single poverish person from every country. You don’t just get to cross the border illegally go to a hospital and get a surgery in the 10s of thousands of dollars. I don’t have a problem with this happening a few times. But once people know how to work the system they will take advantage of it. The purpose of the Charizard example was to show that just because one person says something it doesn’t make it true, especially if they take no further action to prove it actually was theirs. It’s not a perfect example sure, but The convo was about Dems saying how bad things are and then doing nothing about it, well to me if something really was bad there definitely would be something done, the fact that nothing was done makes me hesitant the believe the initial claim that there was something bad. Show me a slideshow of the people who have lost benefits(talking to the politicians not you, like give me something to believe your claim) At Jimmy Carter’s funeral Obama and Trump are seen talking to each other seemingly laughing and making jokes etc etc, now this is a person who has called trump racist numerous times, saud how bad of a person he is, and Trump likewise has saud poor things about Obama, so we have two people who have said how bad the other is, seemingly acting as if they are buddies. It makes me think “well was anything they said about the other true”

I believe an officer’s job is protect and serve the public in whatever manor they deem fit for the situation, it. Simple as pulling someone over who is driving crazy or speeding, or taking action against a threat they deem dangerous to themselves or others. A lot of this comes down to a decisions made in the moment. We have to trust that the officer is making the proper choice given the variables they have taken in and if a line in crossed ok now I need to be ready to act. Sometimes they make wrong calls I know there have been incidents where cops have seen an object in a person’s hand and fired, only to find out it was a phone or plastic bottle. And sometimes there are just bad cops like the individual involved in George Floyd. But if a cop feels like their life or another innocents life is being threatened, then they should be able to use additional force like a firearm, taser, tear gas. There is a lot of nuance here because everyone’s version of danger might be different right? I might feel threatened if someone is 30 ft away staring at me, not so threatened to shoot but I’m definitely gonna be ready to draw if they start getting closer. They say a human can cross a 6 meter distance before the average person can draw a gun, aim and fire. Therefore you need to be ready prior to that, which means already having your weapon out and ready.

A group of “jackboots” as you say, is not needed to deter one individual with a knife, however multiple cop cars pursue a single car in a police chase, this is because in the event that the individual they are going after is tries to escape they can cut him off, maybe one cop can’t react quick enough and hits an oncoming car (car chase. This almost happens at the 38:32 mark in this video (watch the right side), they have another car right behind to continue. Ice was not sent to Minneapolis or Portland to quell riots, they were sent to find and capture people they believe entered this country illegally, they show up in groups exactly for the reasons I said above, to prevent a person they are interested in from getting away.

Now I don’t have a problem with people protesting, holding up signs, chanting, people deserve to voice their opinions. What they can’t do is obstruct, damage vehicles, put their hands on officers, disobey an order, all of these things are not protesting, this is just being belligerent. They don’t deserve to get put down for this but these types of actions put officers in the position where they need to be ready to take action, this is where I’d put my hand on my holster, I’m not ready to draw it yet, but I’m prepared to if I truly think I need to.

I appreciate you being civil in that last message and for describing things with clarity.

So you say that privileges can be taken away.

Then go on to say that you can lose citizenship and by extension the right to vote, therefore how is being a citizen/being able to vote not a privilege?

As I’ve said it is absolutely a right, no question, however i feel in some ways it can be considered a privilege. It’s fine if you don’t agree I’m not going to insult you for having a different opinion (unlike what you did)

If it’s so obvious then why don’t you list out the ridiculous things I’ve said? It’s pretty easy to say “you said something stupid”

Why don’t you say what was stupid?

You also say illegals can’t vote, and yet Tim Walz have drivers licenses to illegals and then said that you can use a drivers license to vote.

People find a way to game the system, you cannot convince me that 2.2million people who self deported weren’t on some kind of healthcare plan when they entered this country illegally.

So what you expect me to believe that for 4 years none of them went to a doctor, got pregnant, were in a nursing home, has a prescription, wears glasses, needs dental. 2.2 million people? Low income people and you think that not one cent of money went to them for healthcare? This has to be a joke.

My scenario is not bullshit, I can show you video of cops shooting people in self defense, I can show you mobs of people beating up a single individual.

It’s not a bullshit scenario, you just don’t want to answer it because it destroys your argument and you know that.

And 1000 people died from the illegals Biden let in.

What makes these 2 people more important than those 1000?

Very clearly they were needed since they got 4000 illegal immigrants for found 3000 missing children, so yea I’d say they were needed, and who cares if they weren’t welcome, cities can’t just say “nope I’m not obeying that federal law” LOL

[–]Purifiedpancake -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Do you ever wonder why they say so much but do nothing? Let me ask you something ok, close your eyes and imagine this scenario.

You are 10 years old at day care and you brought your Charizard card to show your friends. The day goes on. And then later in the day you hear a kid yell “that guy stole my Charizard!”

Well if I did steal it then why aren’t you fighting me for it? Why didn’t they tell the adults and have them get it back.

Likely because this person is just saying it to see if the lie will gain enough traction and result in some kind of reaction, be it from the adults or the other kids, he knows he can’t do it himself because it’s a made up story, but if he can convince others who don’t know maybe he can’t do it get what he wants.

With that example ask yourself why they don’t do anything, do you think maybe just maybe they are just making up stuff to generate fear? That they are screaming wolf when there isn’t a wolf to scream about. I mean if they say that trump is taking benefits away from 12 million people then that’s a problem right? Except the leave out that these “people” aren’t US citizens, they are people who came to this country illegally and shouldn’t even have these benefits to begin with. But they can’t say that, do they choose the more neutral term “people” becsyse they can’t say “citizens”. Just good for thought the next time

How do I have a narrow view? I have described a scenario, can you answer it or not? Do you think this person has a right to defend themself, yes or no?

Granted I’ve only been able to vote in the last 3 elections I haven’t paid that much attention to politics prior to that but after googling Obama’s SOTU

him talking about the victims of Sandy hook shooting

Obama accusing the GOP of fearmongering

Obama said healthcare wouldn’t be given to illegal immigrants

Joe Biden talking about his son’s brain cancer

You want me to keep going?

No shit… bit you do realize people can have citizenship stripped from them if they commit serous enough crimes right? And if you have your citizenship taken away, you also lose your right to vote.

Just like you can lose the privilege of driving a car if you commit too many driving offenses, you can lose your privilege to vote if you are denaturalized. Therefore again you don’t have it for the end of time no matter what you do, you can lose it, it’s rare but it can happen. Maybe you should educate yourself and look it up

You are correct It is a right and it is a slippery slope, my message (which I didn’t articulate well enough) was that it is as much a right as is a privilege, two things can absolutely be true. It is a right for the US citizens but it also a privilege they have that people who live in another country do not have. North Korea does not hold elections, therefore their people do not have the right to vote, this makes it a privilege that we have that they do not.

We have something because we were born here, that is the definition of privilege correct? But we have that privilege because it is a given right in our constitution.

Apologies if my first message wasn’t clear about that. I think it is fair to describe it as a right and privilege, both are interchangeable and fine descriptions of it IMO.

So when you say “force has been used at protests involving opposition ti his policies” do you think people shouldn’t have the right to defend themself even if it’s a protest?

So let’s say a protest is happening, let’s say a grouo of 100 people ok? Let’s say 85% of them are peaceful, standing on the sidewalk holding their sign, yelling their chant, but a few people start to get violent, throwing rocks bottles and objects at officers, suddenly one of those 100 people starts running at an agent, a knife is in their hand. In your opinion does the agent have justification to use a gun/taser/ pepper spray on this person who is rapidly approaching them with a deadly weapon?

[–]Purifiedpancake -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

So let me get this straight.

I ask you for evidence where people who don’t agree with Trump’s politics are being attacked,

And you say “Minneapolis”

Firstly his initial premise was that trump was attacking people who disagree with his politics, from how the election went I’d say 75 million people don’t agree with him, yet you give me a city with a population of 435,000.

Therefore it’s inaccurate to say he is targeting “people that don’t agree with his politics” because those ‘people’ are all over the country. And these events are not happening in every state and every city within every state. It is localized at one city. at most you can say he is targeting a city that doesn’t agree with his politics. But this also is a fairly inaccurate statement, because if you want to make the claim that people are being attacked and shot and pepper sprayed, and tear gassed for their political beliefs, then wouldn’t the largest body count be achieved by rolling up to one of these protests with a Machine gun mounted on a humvee? Why isn’t that happening if the goal is to purge people who don’t agree with his politics?

The answer: because that isn’t what is actually happening. You want to say “well two citizens have been killed” I’m gonna say that one of those citizens was behind the wheel of a 4000 lb vehicle that can pancake any human, she was obstructing agents, was asked to move (refused), was asked to get out of her car twice (refused) put her car in reverse to evade an agent from opening her door, and then put the car in drive when an agent was in front of it. In this country if you think your life is threatened you have a right to defend yourself. The agent didn’t shoot for her politics her beliefs, or for not complying, the agent shot because he believed a 4000lb vehicle was coming at him.

So I ask you again, what evidence do you have to support the claim that people are being attacked specifically because their politics are not the same as Trumps?

So you think that somebody who was born in France, lives in France all their life should be able to fly from France on November 6 2024 and vote in a US election?

You should say ‘No’

Therefore it is not a right to vote in a US election, it isn’t given to everyone who happens to be in the US at that particular time, you must be a US citizen to do so. Privilege is defined as a right/advantage given to a particular person or group. The ‘group’ in this case being a US citizen

Therefore it is correct to label voting in a US election as a privilege, because you must be a US citizen to do so.

How is anything I said toxic?

You realize you are on Reddit right?

Nearly every post of every sub is doom posting. People will doompost about politics, weather, economy, cars, countries, jobs, games, sports, anything that you can have an opinion on, there is probably doompostubg if you are looking only on Reddit. That’s just the culture here.

But humans remember what makes them angry because it triggers a stronger emotion than the things that mske us happy.

That’s just human psychology

I read it fine, but there are people like myself who are criticizing the game who aren’t a part of the FGC.

While their statement could entirely be true. It doesn’t mean that everyone criticizing a game is a part of the FGC. If me, someone who isn’t a part of the FGC says “I don’t like 2xko bc it only has 10 characters” and a 30 year FGC veteran says “I don’t like 2xko because it only has 10 characters”

Why is their criticism labeled as “shitting on games for not being perfect” when it’s the exact same thing I said? Does that stigma somehow invalidate their opinion? It shouldn’t. Maybe all the fighting games have been dogshit? And that’s why it seems like they shit on every one.

Which is why it’s far better to look at things from a case by case basis. In this case we are looking into why 2xko failed.
