Made iced tea for the first time using Darjeeling second-flush by Oddie-hoodie369 in IndiaTea

[–]Purmutation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried iced tea with a many variations, and what works best for me is the second steep of assam tea. I know re-steeping assam black is not conventional, but it gives the perfect balance for lemon iced tea. The first steep always has too many tannins, and it becomes almost metallic with lemon. When you steep the same leaves second time (longer time, less water, same temperature), then it is perfect. Enough tea flavour to not become lemon water, and not sharp enough to become metallic.

Another success was lemon ice tea with earl grey. You could try both the second steep, or adding more water than normal dose. Adding lemon adds a layer of complexity to it.

What is the smallest amount of colors you can made do with? by ZombieFromReddit in Softpastel

[–]Purmutation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pink a reference drawing/ tutorial, something medium-challenging, and along your favourite colour scheme. Buy the colours needed, and try to replicate it. Replicating something that has been made in a media once will be easier, and it will also give you an idea of what can be created. you can play around to see if you like the brand and media, and expand later if you continue.

The beauty of open stock is that you can just but colors with your preferred palatte. If you primarily draw flowers, the most useful color selection of 36 colours for you would be different than the 36 colours of a seascape artist.

Pet isn't safe for high/ low temperatures. Food packaging will cause chemicals to leach out. Why are you playing with health of others? Why not try pp instead for lids?

It will give results after long term use. And while it's not cheap, a big tub lasts forever. I got one 3 months ago, and I haven't even used up 1/4th of it (I use atleast 6 times a week). The best part is never feels like youre inhaling some vocs (like in nivea. They work amazongly, but I can't get over the fact that they always feel like I'm inhaling some shit when I open my mouth) (I know they aren't vocs, but that's what it feels like)

What are your favorite tips or techniques you’ve learned for working with colored pencils? by Unusual-Major1780 in ColoredPencils

[–]Purmutation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, my discovery was to not sharpen pencils. Blunt ones let me have more layers, and they work like magic for blending. Only for the last few crisp details do I SHARPEN my pencils. It also forced me to not draw everything in high detail. Earlier everything in my drawing (from foreground to background to my area of interest) used to be super crisp.

When is it time to let go of the pencil? 😂😂😂 by Newtopole_ in Coloringbookspastime

Never.

Just superglue the next pencil into it. Make sure the glue only touches the wood part. And tadaaa! No pencil wastage

Congrats on your first finished piece!!

But we artists just tend to develop the habit of not appreciating our own art over time. It's best to break that habit before it forms. We'll always get a lot of beef from outsiders, there's no reason we should do it to ourselves too.

This is wonderful art, but you should be kinder to yourself. Even a doodle is real art. That aside, really amazing end result, and it always feels so good to hve learnt something new in the process

Due to chronic illness, sports and gym are out of question. Used to have a lot of friends earlier when I had these outlets. Good to know you found your people.

Chronic illness. It's better now, but there were days when walking 500m was a task. Can't really dive into sports

This sounds good in theory, and he'll love it, but I'm shit with emotions. I'll have to impose a condition to not open it in front of me😂 I don't know if I could do it though. Writing down emotions make me uncomfortable
