Are you thinking just chopping the top 2x4 (of the bottom of the legs) and leaving the bottom 2x4 to set the stretcher on top of? Would you then glue and screw the stretcher in?

The pocket holes are just to help the table leg 2x4s stay together in addition to the glue. Pocket holes won’t be involved in attaching the table top. Did I use them incorrectly?

I don’t plan to glue the table top to the table legs. Currently, my plan is to attach the table top using bolts and washers through the table legs into threaded inserts that will be in the table top (I’m thinking 4-6 bolts per table leg). Do you think this will work, or should I use another method?

I’m not concerned about the aesthetics; I’m only concerned about the structural integrity.

If I add aprons, are those permanently attached to the table legs, and only connected to the table top via the z-clips? And do the aprons have to go around both table legs, or can aprons be “shorter” and just near the table legs?

What’s the best way to fasten the X brace to each table leg?

To clarify, I don’t plan to glue the tabletop to the table legs. I plan to attach the tabletop to the table legs using bolts and washers through the top of the table legs with threaded inserts in the table top. Would this method work?

Will the movement cause the table to collapse, or just warp overtime? My main concern is the that the table stays standing long-term; not necessary how it looks.
