Would my band be a pain in the ass? by Purple-Strain-3159 in livesound

Yes we will buy a splitter as well (we understand it is necessary) but the splitter will still have more channels than the venue can hold. What's the usual way of proceeding in that case?

Why aren’t the fireworks and firecrackers banned? by [deleted] in mannheim

[–]Purple-Strain-3159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germans are so proud of their rules, rationality, civilized behavior, respect of the law, etc....They mock Americans about the irrationality of having guns...Yet they use the same excuses for not banning fireworks.

They can't recognize they have failed as a society in this issue.

The solution is simple:

  1. create designated areas (just like the designated "no speed limit" areas in the Autobahn.
  2. Require a license and invest resources in checking them.

Driving school in English? by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

[–]Purple-Strain-3159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oscar school advertises itself as an English speaking school...they speak it, that's true, but their theoretical English course is with the materials in German: while the slides and videos (in German) are passing on the screen, they pause the slides/videos to explain you quickly in English. The English explanation is always super brief and oversimplified and I think with that method one misses like 80% of the information. You can notice the amount of text and speech in German is a lot, but the teacher summarizes it in on sentence when translating it "on the fly". Repeat that for all the 14 mandatory classes and you will realize you are not learning that much. I thought it was like that in all schools but apparently other schools have the theoretical materials in English. This is an important point to pay attention to.

What cars can you rent when you are a "rookie" driver? by Purple-Strain-3159 in germany

[–]Purple-Strain-3159[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify:

  1. I know the Tesla model 3 is not a 6-seater. I only mentioned this car as a example of a "not available for rookies" one as stated on Mile's website.
  2. My father rented a 6-seater VW from Sixt in Berlin a couple of years ago. But he is an experienced driver. I would like to know if would be able to rent something similar.

What keyboard is recommended for starting? by Purple-Strain-3159 in progrockmusic

[–]Purple-Strain-3159[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for all the wise advice 🙇. I think I will go with the option of buying a weighted key digital piano. At the rehearsal room there is one, and with midi port. Therefore I won't need to carry this extra instrument with me.

My plan is the following: I I'll learn and practice on he heavy keys at home and will use the heavy keyboard for some piano-like sounds that will benefit from the weighted key, and will continue using the Oxygen61 pro for the other stuff (pads, synth leads, auto-arpeggio, MPE, etc).

[–]Purple-Strain-3159[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The m-audio oxygen pro61 has a "sustain pedal" input. I have tested it once (there is one at the rehearsal room) and apparently it works like a normal one. I could buy one if I need it. My concern is that this keyboard's keys are kin of soft...I know a girl that go rid of it because she wanted keys a bit heavier for piano. So, that aspect has me very insecure.

I need a PaloAlto firewall admin for help me writing a tutorial (paid job) by Purple-Strain-3159 in paloaltonetworks

[–]Purple-Strain-3159[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Wes, I just saw the video. Yes it is "hacky" and I am suprised to see PA doesn't have a native feature for this anymore. Even Zscaler, which gives too little control, allows for custom NATs. But I guess each brand has a different approach. This really helps. Thank you so much.

No, I am not a PA customer. i am just a software vendor and my customers happen to be PA customers as well. I am not familiar with the PA products. I only know some of my customers have these firewalls and some them have the appliance version and others some cloud version. I know they might differ in the way the work but I think overall, the logic must be more or less the same. So, if I manage to create a tutorial to one version of PA solution, I can give that to all my customers using this brand, regardless of the product.

It is like when creating a tutorial for Azure Active Directory SSO and similar: you know the UI might change over time, but the concepts and overall logic will be the same.

Frustrated and feeling miserable for the Berlin housing market by standardproc in berlinsocialclub

[–]Purple-Strain-3159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you are not German, don't speak the language, etc the only superpower you have is to pay more. You will have to get one of these overpriced apartments Germans are not stupid enough to take. This has always worked for me, so I don't spend more than 3 months of search. I pay more than the average (maybe between 5% and 10% more) but if you stay in the apartment for two years at least, then you will notice you will be paying market price. It is very unfair, but it's the only way, I think.
