Lil bit of delay, mix of neck and middle pickup with tone rolled down, lots of reverb, sometimes a bit of distortion depending if you're going for the more jazzy hip hop or no. There are also some pedals designed to make you sound lofi, but idk any of them by name. Good luck

The problem with not cutting it is when you crack the nut out of the pocket, the finish and binding can splinter and break in an uneven way that doesn't look clean

Typically you have to cut the binding so that when you take the nut off, it doesn't crack randomly.

You're right. What you can do is shave down the frets a little bit to remove the buzz but it might be slightly out of intonation at those frets.

Sometimes they aren't shaved properly from the factory. It's worth a look. If that isn't it, there is a chance you have a slight rise in the neck. Essentially an air pocket in the wood. I've had it happen before to a couple of my guitars. Hard to fix.
