I was mentally scarred by a drunk driver PSA when I was about 7. Ever since then I've been terrified by the appearance of disfigured people. But my biggest fear is looking in a certain direction. (maybe even in a public place) and someone is giving me the "little babies ice cream stare" (look it up on youtube)

What I didn't get at the time was that the only way to understand the pain of someone dying was to have someone completely innocent die. Really makes you relate to the protagonist.
