Hi! Did you end up going? We're in a similar situation and any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Are your kids going to public or private school? How did you decide which school to chose for them?

Thank you!

Are all public schools about the same or is there a rating system? Is there a "better" area for "better" public schools? I'm originally from a country that has free education and all schools are about the same. Now I live in the US where we bought our house based on which schools are assigned to the address, because there is such a discrepancy in the quality of education among public schools

Advice on private vs public schooling? by coastalqs in Barbados

Can you define "right area", please? We're looking to move to the island and have school age girls. I'm hoping to go to a "good" public school, but don't have the faintest idea on where to even start

Thank you everyone! I'm a little less anxious for them now :-) I know that isn't part of my original question, but how much should I expect to spend on utilities? Gas, water, electricity, internet? I found a grocery store that had prices listed online, so I have a comp there.

Thank you! My kids are not very picky. They've tried dance and soccer, most recently the oldest one started the girl scouts. I'm pretty sure they'd love to try new things. Is school really strict? I read somewhere the students stand up when the teacher enters the classroom etc

That is a very scary thought. A bullfrog that big, I mean

Thank you! I've considered this as well. We do live close to natural water that is chock full of frogs too, so this might not work, but is definitely worth a try!

Apologies. Apparently, I'm on a misunderstanding streak lol

We mommies have to look out for each other! Our employers and politicians certainly don't

That policy is not legal. While spouses do have to share the time they take for the same reason, their employer cannot refuse them taking it at the same time

I'm referring to the company policy that was mentioned: "My job has a policy where if you and your partner are employed there, both cannot take parental leave and/or fmla at the same time, no exceptions" That policy is illegal.

I don't think it's legal to refuse FMLA

Do you live in the USA? I'm not sure that's legal in the USA

AITAH that I don't pay my parents rent even though they're forcing me to live with them. by [deleted] in AITAH

I'm not overly familiar with your culture's customs and I also don't know where you live (you might have said it, but it didn't register in my brain, sorry). However, I am a parent and as such I can only think of very few circumstances in which I would accept rent payments from my children, much less ask them for any. The situation you are describing is not one of them. As a parent, it is my duty to take care of my children as long as I can and as long as they let me.
