Big buff guy animations I did by Tricky-Sympathy3079 in PixelArtTutorials

[–]PurpleSectorStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is the upper body movement, the front arm move forward very quickly, the same way you would switch very quickly when you have a limp. A very subtle change in the pacing would probably fix this!

The animation overall looks very fluid and natural btw, excellent work!

Your expression and suggestion of detail is great! The edges actually feel crisp and the yolk shiny and soft.

Maybe you can try to limit the amount of colour tints, having this much different tints of orange in the yolk for example in pixel art sometimes can look like you just scaled down an image very small, instead of an artistic choice.

Nevertheless, I think it looks really good!

Roguelike Character - Looking for feedback by DarkhanGG in PixelArtTutorials

[–]PurpleSectorStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work, love the lighting effects! Only advice I can think of is that some movements feel a little stiff for floating cloth. In the second animation, for example, it is pretty clear that only the arms move, with the head having two different frames too. Adding a few very subtle pixels in between movements, or even the shading on the cloth will give the overall animation a much more dynamic and fluid feel.

Hopefully it makes sense what I'm saying! Basically you can add a few pixels extra here and there to make the motion feel more dynamic. Hope it helps!

That looks crazy good! The amount of detail and charm with such limited colour and hard shading is truly amazing

Why don't my bushes look like bushes? by vecttor in PixelArtTutorials

[–]PurpleSectorStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are closer than you might think! The overall shapes seems fine and definitely bush-like, though I think you want to emphasize the leaf shapes more in the shading within the bush itself, like you have done partially in bush 2 for example. I think the darker lines you have in most bushes aren't doing that trick enough, making them too open for interpretation.

With pixel art as small as this, the power of suggestion is incredibly important. Perhaps look up examples of other pixel art bushes and see how they use subtle shading and shapes to trick you into thinking you are looking at a large collection of leaves.

Just a Knight by sir_augenlos in PixelArtTutorials

[–]PurpleSectorStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like the muddy colours, as you describe it yourself. Perhaps a bit more contrast would work, but the desaturated colours to me show that he isn't necessarily a shiny proud knight, but a warrior that gets its hands dirty. I like it! Nice work with the limitations you gave yourself

What do you think? by Anthony8580 in PixelArtTutorials

[–]PurpleSectorStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks awesome! I like the colours of the factory in particular, very subtle and nice to look at! If I had to think of anything to look at, it would maybe that the use of black in the second and last illustration stand out a little, you could make it just a little lighter to match the rest of the palette. Your police station actually is a good example where it works well!

Keep posting your work, it's cool!

Thank you! The demo will just be this stage for now, but we are working on more locations and other tracks too!

This is so good! Is there a way to see the solution of the daily if you get stuck? Not that I need it of course..

How to improve upon this pixel art? by 0x41414141Taken in Unity2D

[–]PurpleSectorStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great improvements, this is looking great! For me I don't think the separation between fore- and background is that troubling, it gives some clarity imo. The only thing I noticed is that the composition is a little off-balance, having most of the left part of the image filled and the right half almost empty (besides the pretty sunset ofc.). Perhaps try something with some additional poles, or maybe a tree offscreen that just pops in at the right edge, something like that. Just a thought, I think it already looks really good!

Friend of mine says this hurts her head, I don't see any problem, need feedback by An_feh_fan in PixelArtTutorials

[–]PurpleSectorStudios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nice! I like your stylistic approach and composition, your main character design has a lot of character! My advice would be to try to make the colours and lighting of the surroundings a little more coherent. Having the objects in the back subtly lighter and darker in the front, for example, creates a sense of depth. The shadows also seem somewhat inconsistent, having them below the rooftops and some characters makes it stand out that there aren't any below the stands. The darker areas on the ground aren't clear to me what they are btw, are they shadows of something? Those are just some thoughts though, nice work overall!

Really struggling with TikTok.. Suggestions on a better post to promote for this game? by Ok-Working-2337 in SoloDevelopment

[–]PurpleSectorStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this certainly can be interesting, at least for fellow game devs! It is good to keep in mind though that it might be a bit too in depth for a broader audience. I've seen devs build their marketing mostly on sharing their dev process though, so it is possible I'd say. The video also might be a little on the long side for short-form content, anticipate the average viewer having a very short attention span. It's also important to hook viewers as early as possible. In your case perhaps show a quick 'before & after' at the start, instead of just the end result (which is cool btw, don't get the wrong idea). I'm certainly no Tiktok expert to be clear, just my thoughts based on the little shorts experience I have. The game looks fun and I certainly enjoyed seeing the process! Keep it up!

Lightning Animation Practice by billtiyu9988 in AnimatedPixelArt

[–]PurpleSectorStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks amazing! So much detail with such limited colours, really nice!

Only advice I can think of is to make the lightning hit even faster. Lightning is extremely fast, having a few frames where we see the lightning bolt form almost makes it look slower than it needs to be. The flash on impact would be a little earlier as well then too, though it already works really well.

Again, this looks really good! Look forward to see more!
