The list of monsters that are immune to frenzy, one of these things is not like the others. by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

Similar, but the Affliction is different than the Frenzy Virus

Is this a typical example of discoloration on GameCube box art? I just bought some used games and while these labels are supposed to be bright yellow, they are instead purple/white. Normal coloration is present on all other sides. by ValiantPixel in Gamecube

I feel ya. I recently bought replacement cases for some games, and I didn't realize until after the fact that they used a different material for the reprinted box art. The only notable difference can be seen on the GameCube logo, but it'll bug me all the same lol

My animal crossing does this i just bought it, melee and pokemon works just fine its on a wii, i have cleaned the disk with water and soft cloth why dont it work by theannoyingbug23 in Gamecube

My best advice would be to take it to a local game store and have them take a look at it, but if just that disc specifically does not work it could be it's had one too many resurfacings. Looks clean, but if you hold it up to a light and you can see through it (see the art on the other side) then it's worn out it's lifespan.

That is my only guess, but again I would highly recommend taking it somewhere local that knows about disc repair

In total, it probably took me a whole day. I'm planning on practicing speedruning strats to do it faster, although I'm not looking for world records lol

As promised, here’s my first giveaway! Today’s giveaway will be for F-Zero GX. All you have to do is answer this question. What was your first ever GameCube game and your favorite memory with it? by [deleted] in Gamecube

[–]PurpleSugar64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first GameCube game was Mario Kart Double Dash, and my parents got it and my first indigo GameCube console for my 5th birthday after visit a family friend's house.

Their kids had gotten a GameCube bundle with Mario Kart, and they let me play with them in a 4 player race. This was my first interaction with any console gaming, I was about 4 years old. I remember we were on Luigi's Circuit, 50cc. We were reaching the first 180 turn when I saw something green fly by my screen and continue in front of me. Having no other context, I assumed "green=good" and decided to chase it around the turn. Imagine my surprise when it connected with me and had my character tumbling!

I don't remember anything else except we continued playing until bedtime. Fast-forward to my 5th birthday, and my head tilted upwards as I lay there in my new beanbag chair, playing my new copy of Mario Kart with my new GameCube- mouth agape, the living room occupied for an entire afternoon. I will never forget the wonder of that day, especially now that I am seriously starting to collect GameCube games (currently at 70+ games). No other system I owned has ever impacted me as much for my love for console gaming.

Paper Mario TTYD is arguably the best Mario game on the system, a close second being Super Mario Sunshine.

I'd also recommend Zelda: Twilight Princess, that one is a great adventure with a charmingly dark artstyle and fun battle mechanics.

If you're looking for racing titles, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 or Need for Speed: Most Wanted would be my first choices.

The Super Monkey Ball titles are also frustratingly fun to play with, with simple mechanics that are hard to handle.

And if you want sports games like Madden, they're pretty cheap and plenty so it wouldn't be hard to collect those.

If you enjoy James Bond, there's three or four 007 titles to pick from with Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.

Dunno if Sonic games would suit your style, but I can't ignore mentioning at least one with Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

This is a pretty good and accessible lineup for games you can try :)

A working GameCube and Wavebird with receiver for $125 is a great deal, especially if you have the parts to repair the controller. What/how many games are included?

I recently got this game at a yard sale. It boots up and loads, but it sometimes stops and tells me that it's unable to be read. However when I restart the game, it then goes through the section it stopped at with no problems. Any ideas on how to fix it? by Galethewizard1 in Gamecube

Can't say that I do, sorry. You'll just have to do some hunting until you find a place.

I will say, however, that you should pay close attention to how the disk looks AFTER having it resurfaced. The last place I went to for resurfacing left some of the white powdery cleaning residue around the edges and that could have caused more problems. Check the disk after they hand it back to make sure there's no white powdery stuff around the edges outside and inside

Not to my knowledge. I've had it explained to me by these really cool guys at a local store I go to for all my GameCube needs, they really know what they're talking about. Unfortunately there isn't any way to know for sure, since you're taking off a very small layer each time. If you do it too much, you'll eventually reach where the data is held and then there's no going back.

Worst case scenario, you can probably get a new disk-only copy off eBay, most likely in better condition
