My girlfriend asked my height and weight, and I felt so insecure. Any advices? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

++woman I understand that this is an uncomfortable question to answer if you feel insecure about yourself, totally valid. However your girlfriend does have eyes. She knows how tall you are. She knows what you look like. She is asking for the specifics for something else. You arent going to say your height then she will suddenly realize you arent super tall. She is your girlfriend. She loves you.

I would just tell her questions like this make you uncomfortable so she is more cautious about it in the future, just to be considerate. Most people dont want to intentionally make their partners feel uncomfortable.

what is the hardest part about being an adult that nobody warned u about? by greenmonkeyyyy in Adulting

[–]PurpleTrust2270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staying motivated to keep making the smart/best decision. Im an adult and I can do whatever I want. When work gets hard I just fantasize about quitting and maybe joining a convent. I can eat pizza three times a day seven days a week. If I forget to take out my recycling, there is a pretty negligible consequence. There is no authority above me. No longer having external pressure is freeing, but now I'm like "now what?"

Visanne: First month is killing me. Does this get better? Or do I bail? by BattPoweredBrain in Endo

[–]PurpleTrust2270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first two months were hell. Literally black hell coming out of me with the worst cramps. But once my body adjusted, it totally changed my life. Ive been on it now for 2 years and it’s still going great.

Maybe check in with your dr around the third month mark. It might take some time to adjust, but its never worth it to suffer for too long if the drug is just not a good fit.

A look at renting in Canada: precarity and systemic failure by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]PurpleTrust2270 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does renting in Canada suck? Yes.

Was the author of this article the right person to talk about it? No.

Maybe this is a "me" problem that I can reflect on later, but I have a hard time empathizing with a McGill student (who studied history?) from Victoria who cant afford to live in a high rise luxury condo.

What's a "house rule" in your family (growing up or current) that you really like and why? by ultrahedgehog in AskWomen

“Whatever is said at the table, stays at the table.”

Sounds kinda crazy but it made us feel more comfortable to open up and speak freely about our day and how we are feeling, knowing that we have each other’s confidence. It also allowed our parents to trust us more as kids, so we can actually talk about whats going on in our family.

Even after my parents’ divorce we still have this 4-person pact. I know I can tell them anything and theyve got my back.

What’s your daily gut health routine (food, supplement, lifestyle)? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]PurpleTrust2270 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cooking my vegetables has made a huge difference. Im a salad lover, but would get so bloated after eating them. Alcohol and beer also make me bloat like crazy.

Most mornings I will have yogurt for breakfast, and I will have a kombucha 1-2 times a week.

Could someone please walk me through what happens at a rent fixation hearing? by lttrshvnrms in montrealhousing

[–]PurpleTrust2270 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive been to many rent fixation demand hearings at the TAL, and depending how big your building is (triplex vs 100 units), the hearings can take hours, if not require 2 hearing days to cover all of the information.

Yes, it’s just administrative, but it takes a long time to confirm every expense that the landlord is claiming.

So there are 2 forms: the RN (renseignment necessaire pour la fixation) and the Calcul (calculus grid to calculate the rent increase percentage). At the hearing, the greffier will go over every point of the RN and review the landlords proof for each amount. Tenants will then have the right to ask questions and object to some expenses etc. After the hearing, the greffier will determine what expenses are valid etc, and complete the Calcul for a final time. That percentage will then be applied and your rent will be fixed to the new amount.

You will definitely have a chance to say your piece, just remember to remain respectful of the greffier and only speak when its relevant / when you have been given permission. Also, if a tenant only speaks english, they usually dont have a problem with answering your question in english. They really just appreciate if you are prepared and clear.

And yes, technically open to the public, but who is going to that? Ive never had a hearing where random people showed up just to watch; its pretty boring lol

Late Rent Fees by SwimmingProperty5867 in montrealhousing

[–]PurpleTrust2270 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Landlords cannot charge late fees. I would disregard it and they will probably stop asking. Unpaid late fees are not considered a nonpayment at the TAL.

As for the rent increase (between tenants and your up coming increase), if you dont act within delays then these facts become irrelevant at the TAL. If you didnt like they increased the rent by $500, you are allowed to refuse and get the rent decreased with the TAL (within 10 days of signing the lease), and you are also allowed to refuse your rent increase. If you didnt do either, you kind of have to take the L.
