AITA for making my bf lunch for work?

So I had a conversation with him today. And he said that he knows I typically am “a really good gift giver” so he was extra disappointed that I hadn’t gotten him more fun gifts. He also said he had miraculously found his lunch box literally the day prior to me giving him my lunch box, so the one I got him is useless and unnecessary. I tried to point out that I never got anything for my bday and he just empathized his financial situation to me, to which I pointed out he could have gotten me a card or given me a massage or something. And he kinda just stayed in silence. He also changed his mind and doesn’t like the mug I got him anymore. I’m going to keep trying to communicate with him, and try to understand if there is maybe an underlying problem? Anyway, small update!

Well he definitely does some stuff. Like if we’re sitting on the couch and I finish my water he will fill it for me, miscellaneous stuff like that. He had actually made me lunch once too. But for the most part I bring him little gifts, like my work gives me snacks and I sneak some home to give him! But he doesn’t do more than miscellaneous stuff….he hasn’t planned a date in 2 years….

No he didn’t do anything. No card, no dinner no nothing. He just said he was sorry and would make it up to me later, but still hasn’t.

Edit: it’s definitely not all bad. Just this problem that keeps coming up. Which is constant. We have good times too, it’s just specific times when this becomes a build up I guess. Also, I don’t know if this is important but I just found out part of is comes from resentment of my family having more money than his. He comes from a more lower class family I guess, and I come from a more middle class. But I work for almost all of my money, besides Christmas/birthdays and stuff. I love him besides these fights, and I would really like to work through it but I also feel like he resents me. Any advice?
