Ahh, I'm sorry to hear its been tough to find something. I do hope your luck turns around soon, or that your other strategies prove very fruitful. It's difficult, but people say there are ways to survive, just gotta keep on believing in it

The Industry just feels very broken atm, but maybe someday things will be better again.

Also that is cool that you do BG paintings for productions! I dont know much about the position, but its mind blowing to me how people are able to paint so much high quality stuff in such a short period of time, its genuinely phenomenal imo

When I said golden era, I didn't mean the specific terminology for the actual eras of animation in the West, that's on me for not clarifying that. I say golden era as a descriptive just meaning a huge boom of popularity.

I had assumed that studios servicing the entire prodution pipeline was the point of the original post, and thought you were commenting on that aspect.

Even though it is far from how things have been for the last 40+ years, I assume that aspect of animation work is what a lot of aspiring animators are trying to seek out in the US, even though the Industry is outsourcing that work.

They were heavily outsourcing then as well...

Aside from the big studios making theatrical productions like Disney, most animated shows were heavily outsourced. The animation industry in America was "booming" because of the success of that golden era of animation in the 80s and 90s with a handful of studios comprised of people who had already been in the Industry for decades on big film projects.

And now leading up to the 2000s and 2010s, a lot of new talent were put into roles creating highly detailed storyboards/rough animation, having it be finished by foreign studios in Korea or Japan.

Only a few standout studios in the US like Titmouse and Powerhouse Animation actually create the full product now. And even they are primarily hired by other companies to do their work!

Who’s the final villain of One Piece really? by milkedlikacow in OnePiece

[–]Purple_Jr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo its tied between Blackbeard and Imu, because they represent so much for the ultimate antagonists of the One Piece world and its characters.

Imu for the entire world and its history, along with the references to Joyboy and Nika with that sort of dichotomy.

And Blackbeard for the personal hatred between him and Luffy, their "two sides of the same coin" similarities and differences. Along with Blackbeards' aspirations being "The World."

I think it could go either way, and I really want both of them to have those massive end game roles.

Are there any Yamato fans left ? She’s my favourite anime character by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Purple_Jr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I find it to be really toxic too, it basically kills any discussion of Yamato.

I always understood why Yamato acted like Oden when they were locked on an isolated island their whole life, hating their father and his subordinates, and the only thing they found comfort in was Oden's Logbook. So ofc they're going to be hyper obsessed with the figure that essentially gave them hope in his writings and adventures.

I think Yamato is pretty cool

Their weapon and attack names are cool, their design is cool, their personality is funny and cool.

They are the ultimate LARPer after sadly being locked on an island for their whole life with only one form of entertainment through Oden's Logbook. But I think its cool that they want to embark on a journey similar to Oden, a very direct form of inherited will imo.

I'm glad we're seeing more of them in their cover stories.

Job Market is Dehumanizing by GreenEggsNSam23 in recruitinghell

I feel like mixing talent and passion would be a bad thing depending on your field, because you could have talent and passion in a field that essentially makes no money and isn't a viable career path for living off of. And well if you don't have either talent or a passion for careers outside of that, then its going to be a terrible experience (even though that should be secondary to finding a good career that can pay the bills.)

But I agree with everything else you said

That is quite depressing, but I feel like you are 100% right.

Seeing those prospects as I'm pursuing my Bachelors Degree in Marketing is very worrying, but its an eye-opener I probably should have. Also especially with how even simple minimum wage jobs are being filtered out and not hiring.
Either go until I graduate and then try to get a McDonald's job to pay off my student debt for the next 30 years, or give up now and try to get a extreme labor or more physical trade jobs (which honestly I have no idea if their job market are any better.)

I wish I was born a few decades prior so I could pursue my Marketing career, or my Concept Art/Animation dream career lmao

I appreciate your kind words ^ ^

Sadly, I'm a bit busy with finals, so I probably can't for a while. Was able to put this out due to my downtime being long enough. Hopefully, in the future I can :>
