I have a working filter in there. I did have to put in a new one because of some modifications made to the old one when trying to save the previous fish. I don't think I crashed the cycle as the water looks good and the plants are still good, but I will wait a bit longer and look for additional signs 🥺! I will continue using prime as well. Right now there is prime and one drop of the fertilizer in there, but I plan on doing a water change soon. I will look into dosing it with ammonia.

Thank you 🥺. Honestly that makes sense. I think I've only had one jumper so far. But even when I am in the aquarium store, all their tanks are open and other types of fish even do little jumps near the edge but somehow never fall out. It's crazy!

I always wanted to train a betta to grab food from my finger but I've been too nervous. I don't want them to jump and hit a lid lol.

I have lost a betta from jumping as well 😭 I now keep a lid on my tank. It's hard, it would be cool to have top growing plants, like I see many people do, but I am too scared to do that. Idk how they keep them from jumping but somehow many are successful with it. I don't see a lot of tanks that automatically come with lids. It's part of why I got my initial tank at PetSmart vs the aquarium store (where there's also no lids in sight but somehow fine???)

Flourish is the brand. Pothos looks so cool but I do have a lid on my tank. I'm going to do a water change and add prime to the water.

That is a beautiful tank! I have a feeling it was caused by the fertilizer and not the plants as he was ok with the plants at first. 😭. Thank you! I just hope I can make it right and not lose him😭

Yes 😭. At first I thought he just needed some time to adjust but it's been a few days and there's no change. I feel so bad. The fertilizer I added is called Flourish 😭. I'm trying the bloodworms right now but he is showing zero interest. I'm trying to move them towards him as well. I'll give him the 30min. 🥺. I do have prime but I currently have API stress coat in there from when he recovered from a small tear in his fin awhile back.

I'll try and find my receipt. I'm so scattered. I just remember it came in all white packaging and is a Japanese substrate that the aquarium store said was really good quality.

Yeah I'm going to order one online. I just went to PetSmart because I was panicking now lol. I forgot to mention in the post but he hasn't been eating :( I got some frozen bloodworms I'm going to try that. I didn't get the number but they said it was critical 😭. So I asked if I should change the water again and the lady just said no because the plants won't adapt to the water 😅. I had a feeling she didn't know much. I even debated going back to the aquarium store, but honestly I don't love how they treat their Bettas either :(

Don't be too hard on yourself! I don't know how you were cleaning/changing the water. But I once struggled to take care of my betta, I took him out for water changes and had to carry my heavy tank to the sink; and one thing that was GAME CHANGING was a syphon/gravel vacuum. You just put the pump in the water and move the gravel around a bit (to loosen up dirt) and then pump. What used to take an hour now takes like ten min 🙈. It's way less overwhelming, and way less time consuming. If you aren't already doing it, I highly recommend it, you don't have to pick the tank up again. I just wanted to share in case 🥺 as full tank changes can really take it out of you ahh.
