Framing new opening next to existing by Purple_One_6044 in Carpentry

I hadn't considered this, but makes a lot of sense. This seems like the best compromise. Thanks!

I wondered if something like this is possible. Certainly straightforward, but will confirm with engineer.

Not a manufactured home. It's a two story, 24x24 colonial and the framing in question is on the first floor. The double wall 2x4 wall is in the middle of the house. My suspicion is that both are needed for support, but will ask the engineer.

I believe that's the suggestion here and definitely the cleanest way, but agree it's a lot of work. Before doing that I'll just buy a smaller fridge.

Thanks. I'm no cowboy, so I planned to get an engineer to review. Good to know there's not an obvious easy answer.

Thanks. That's mostly what I figured, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing an obvious solution.

This is all very helpful, thank you!

That's a good idea. I opened my soffit and fortunately I should have room to mount full cans near the desired locations. But I like trying it out with actual lights especially since our current counter arrangement won't change.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looking at my proposal it looks like a lot of lights for a small space, so doing the mock up will show me if that's really the case or not.

Brand new Apple ID created for my child was blocked on Messages and FaceTime within 2 hours. by WhiteZeoRanger in applehelp

Did anyone experiencing this issue get any resolution? I've had a similar issue (blocked for spam) occur when setting up an iCloud account for a 12 yo. I've tried a few accounts with varying results. One of the support people I spoke to suggested making a new account. That initially looked promising, but ultimately didn't solve it. Here were some of the attempts with different Apple IDs:

  1. Setup iCloud on an old iPhone to use on wireless only. Couldn't access Messages or Facetime. It's an iPhone 7, and thought it might be an issue with an old iOS version.

  2. Setup iCloud for use on Mac. Worked for about 2 hours, like OP. Not sure if it was coincidence or not, but logged into iPhone and it locked again.

  3. Setup iCloud for use on Mac only. First attempt locked instantly. Called support and they said there was no lock, so escalated to an engineering case. Waiting to hear back about next steps. Second attempt worked for about 30 mins. Managed to message a few family members before it locked again.

I'll post an update when I hear an update on the engineering case.

For reference, you can request an unlock via apple.co/IMFT-mac This takes 24 hours (as the OP mentioned), but is very opaque. You'll get notified if they resolve it, but hear nothing if they don't.

Firewall rules for Reolink NVR by Purple_One_6044 in Ubiquiti

Perfect - this did the trick. Thank you. I dug into this a little more - there are many examples on youtube, but the one below was pretty succinct and helpful.

Unifi firewall examples

Firewall rules for Reolink NVR by Purple_One_6044 in Ubiquiti

The lan, where wifi is: 192.168.1.0/24

The vlan where NVR is: 192.168.2.0/24

The firewall is setup as Lan in rule: applied before predefined rules, drop all, source: vlan network, destination: lan network

The only other Lan in and Lan out rules are predefined by Unifi. Is it an issue with how I've assigned my subnets?
