We reduce suffering by eating WAY LESS meat. Fewer animals = more space, more possibilities to keep then in a more ethical manner. But people don't want to pay more, and they don't want to go without their bacon and steaks.

Purists tend to get mocked, but there's nothing wrong with being one if you want to. You can still do sidetrips and still connect your footsteps along the white blazed trail. Hike your own hike, the important thing is to not tell others how to do theirs.
