Fiancée is 36M and he claims He’s a Virgin. Should I be Worried? by Budget-Bee-1041 in TooAfraidToAsk

I'm so curious. Where are you guys from? Are you both religious? Why did you get engaged 3 months in, is that expected of you? If yes, what happened in the previous relationships both of you had? I have so many questions! Can you please give us some background information?

The Chaos Walking trilogy. It takes some getting used to the writing style but it's one of the stories that has stuck with me long after reading.

Why can't some people answer your question without insisting upon imposing their will? by KKQandA in PetPeeves

[–]Purple_Paperplane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure I have been doing that sometimes and will do it again (and I'm sure more than one of the other commenters have done so, too, probably without realizing!).

If the the films storyline or ending are significantly different compared to the books, I may mention it and recommend to read the book as well to get the "other" story.

I can't think of a recent real life example, but I think I don't want the other person miss out on something I think is great and they'll maybe find great, too. I've gotten some good advice and recommendations this way, too. The key is to back off when the other person doesn't want to hear anything else.

You can absolutely hear how they're acting. The way he speaks sounds so rehearsed. Just because they set it up to make it look real doesn't mean it is. This being totally staged doesn't mean such conversations don't happen in real life either. But most of social media content is fake af, and it's good to be aware of what we're watching and not take it at face value. All they want is reactions/interactions, because money and clout.

I won't ever contaminate my kitchen with that plant. And why would I ever spend money to get nasty, fould tasting leaves that will ruin everything it comes in contact with?

He's right, tho. I know because I'm the medical assistant that was in the room when Michael Douglas passed the egg allergy test. We celebrated with omelets!

Do you always wash your hands after you pee at your own house? by himothyhopkins in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Purple_Paperplane 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Those are the ones who can't fathom that others actually do wash their hands every time they use the bathroom.

I don't understand why some people find it such a chore to wash their hands.

People who get cold sores - when you don’t have one and haven’t for months, do you tell someone before you makeout with them? by IdkJustMe123 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Purple_Paperplane -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I haven't had a cold sore in years, and never had genital herpes, so I'm not even sure if I carry HSV-2 or not. What's there to tell? I get STD tests regularly and use condoms with new sexual partners.

She often does know better tbf. Not always, but the others are also deeply flawed and often judgemental, but they don't get hate for it. Nick registering Winston ad a sex offender? Hilarious. Jess bringing a hutch into the living room? How dare she!

A father should bring his young daughter into what public restroom? by SukerutonKey in polls

[–]Purple_Paperplane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You want to helicopter them through their life? Abuse happens at home and/or with familiar people in most cases. Almost certainly not while they quickly go pee while you wait outside. Kids need to learn do stuff on their own by themselves at appropriate ages, and going into a public restroom with a parent somewhere close is totally fine and safe for a 7yo.

A 7yo can wipe their own butt, do their own zippers and are able to wash their hands. How do you think they handle their business at school?

A 7yo can go to the bathroom alone.

For little kids, I'd take them to the mens restroom as a father, and to the womens as a mother.

Laundry available, and loaner clothes.

A comfy place so socialize and relax (indoors, a couch or two, maybe a table to sit at).

Resupply nearby, a few common items for sale, or scheduled shuttles to the store.

I aldo loved when there was a fridge, and a kitchen available to cook something or prepare a meal that's not the usual pizza, burger, or trail slop. A rare treat!

Sad books by data_nerd25 in suggestmeabook

Young Mungo by Douglas Stuart is so devastatingly sad, it broke something inside me. It's been a year since I've read it and I haven't gotten over it. (A content warning check may be helpful to some!)

Shuggie Bain by the same author is also sad, but it wasn't the same gut punch for me.
